2013 Fit - Metallic Noise During Acceleration
I recently purchased a 2013 Honda Fit and have been experiencing quite a strange metallic noise, almost like metal rubbing against itself in a spinning fashion or almost very faint hiss sound that is metallic in pitch. However, I only have a little over 2000 miles on it and the noise only occurs during acceleration that is continued beyond a few seconds. The other strange thing is that the noise is almost immediately followed by a bit of an exhaust-ish smell from the AC which is definitely present, but not very intense.. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? I am at a total loss since the car has not even hit its first oil change/scheduled maintenance.

they are noisy busy little engines.
Couldn't say for sure without hearing it, but I bet it's "normal." The smell doesn't, um, sound normal.
You have 12K miles to fuss with Honda about performance issues (like strange noises). Take it in and ask the service dept to listen.

That was my thought as well. I just wanted to see if anyone had experienced the same thing as its quite disconcerting. The engine definately has its own noise and volume, but this is intermittent and seems to correspond to rpm. Plus, it goes away as soon as the accelerator stops being applied. Just wanted to see if anyone had experienced the same or had any idea what it was.

There are three heat shields behind the engine. One of them protects the dog bone engine isolator, passenger side axle and inner CV boot.
This heat shield could contact something while the engine is torquing back under acceleration.
It's impossible to see behind the engine, from the top, with the cowl and windshield wiper motor and plate in place.
You'd have to be under the car to inspect it.
There is an EGR tube back there also. What you're hearing may be exhaust hissing from a loose flange.
There are probably lots of other things that could be causing this but, these are a couple guesses.

Did you ever figure it out mines starts at 25mph when I accelerate there’s this metal metallic grinding noise then I let off the gas and it stops then I accelerate again and there’s the noise again. I’ve replaced water pump tensioner, belt I don’t know what else can be wrong someone on a thread said it was pcv valve but idk oh and mines auto also changed tranny fluid spark plugs almost tune up cause of miles I put on it
