Hi,

I have a 2013 Fit GP1. Recently it started giving a tapping sound from the engine (similar to tappet noise). I'm trying to figure out the cause of the noise and what needs to be done to fix it.

I have taken an audio recording of the engine noise and attached it herewith. It only comes when the car is in Drive (D) gear with my foot on the break. It doesn't come when the car is moving. Also i can feel the acceleration/pickup of the car has gone down slightly. The noise i'm referring to is the one that sounds like a lorry in the recording ! Please ignore the periodic AC engine sound which is fine.

The car has only done 41,000 KM so far and i have done all maintenance work in time. During the last service i was told that the engine oil level has gone down to almost half the capacity. I'm not sure whether the engine is burning oil because this never happened before (no oil leaks were found either). An oil with a higher viscosity (10w30) was used to cater for this (earlier i was using 0w30).

Does the noise in the recording ring any bells as to what can be causing it ? (maybe valve clearance, or tappets, etc)
