factory leather steering cover accessory fit

News is that it can be done, and the feel is much better, more so as the weather gets colder--leather cover for steering that is factory accessory. Hope the following may help for someone else interested in doing it.

But it boggles at first with almost fifteen feet of cord to thread, at three places behind the wheel.

I found that the thread and needle supplied as part of the kit were not up to the job--it occurred to me to go to a cobbler, shoe repair person for advice and better cord. He sold me heavy, round, black, leather-like cord and two larger needles with big-big eyes for threading the cord. Yes, I broke one not far along.

Second trick was to use a carpenter's awl (any larger-than-the-needle, sharp thing to poke through) to expand each of the holes before trying to thread the cord through in the right direction and pattern, which means poking the awl through in the same direction as the cord on the needle will go.

Then it is just patience and time, for me it was four days of a couple of hours each, but I learned and could do it faster next time.

NEXT TIME! Ugh, but still is good addition with soft, warm feel but rugged.
