GE8 Replacement Shocks

GE8 Replacement Shocks
Hello All,
Hope you are enjoying your Fit as much as I am.
So the car now has around 40k miles. Wondering when the shocks will need to be replaced. Also, what shocks have you used and been pleased with? My bias is for shocks that handle well (for autox) and that ride good. It is my opinion that the Fit is not a smooth riding car. Reckon the 205-50-16s don't help. If I can get a better handling car while improving the ride, well that would just rock.
Anybody got any info. they can pass on?
Best,
Yo

modern gas filled shocks are good for over 100K (contrary to what Monroe would have you believe). I typically change around 150K unless they're defective or you really want to change the ride characteristics. I don't think you'll get a softer ride no matter what you do.
and yes, for any loud people lurking, that is MacPherson strut cartridges and rear conventional shocks. Dampers if you speak the queen's english.

Not a whole lot of choices right now unfortunately. KYB Excel G, Spoon, Mugen, Custom Koni Yellows from redshift or full coil overs (there are quite a few options here). Search the site, tons of info already.
I wouldn't change for maintenance reasons before 100k unless you've been using lowering springs on stock shocks.

My advice on replacement suspension is either KYB if you have lowering springs and satisfied, or full coilovers.
If for just stock stuff, OEM would be best, but if your car is not super bouncy or making whistling or gurgling sounds when bouncing the car a bit, yours are still okay!
My first honda was a 1990 civic with 8x,xxx miles and I bought it in 2003 and suspension was still great. Honda has since then only improved their suspension quality and design

I actually saw those today but am skeptical about the cost vs reward over the Excel G after shipping coats.
I'm thinking they're similar to tokico HP but I'd like some feedback from someone who has them.

I just finished replacing the dampeners on all 4 wheels, 2007 Honda Fit Sport, 97k miles, with KYB Excel G's. None showed leaking, but all could be readily compressed by hand and did not readily return to their uncompressed length from the gas charge. The FR stabilizer link was also shot (had just started making a clunking sound).
These are wear items that typically wear gradually. May not be obvious simply by visual inspection as to when they need to be replaced, nor are you likely to detect an issue from driving (deterioration is gradual).
I was able to do all 4 for around $300 plus the cost of the new sway bar end links (replacing both sides).
