Brand New 2013 Honda Fit. Maybe it's because I'm just not used to the fit, but downshifting seems a bit "rough" - this is automatic transmission. Just me? Or anyone else feel this way?

I have the 2012 Sport auto and I agree it's a bit rough but you get used to it.

 

With slower speeds, shifting into 2 or 1 can be a little jerky but some of my older cars with the manual modes were similar. Going from 5 - 4 - 3 seems pretty smooth to me. Hope that helps.

 

sort of what i've noticed as well. when i stop quickly is when i see to feel it the most. again, though mine is an automatic.

 

On my 2010 the downshift from 2 to 1 is almost always harsh. I've accepted it for what it is because it was the same way in my last two (Chrysler) cars. Rolling stops are also brutal because it feels like the transmission doesn't downshift soon enough and only decides to do so when you step on the gas. Good for a slight whiplash sensation.

Occasionally my car will even have schizoid upshifts. Such as 2 to 3 feeling more like getting hit from behind. It's delicious!
