2012 fit base auto. "squeek" when I put it in park
Hi,
I have a 2012 base auto fit with 23,000 miles on it. The best I can describe it is when I put in park and turn the engine off I get a squeek sometimes. Like an old electric window motor, or maybe a belt. It sounds like it's coming from the rear of the car, but my ears suck.
It doesn't do it all the time and I had an appnt. to take it in, but it it wasn't doing it right then so I cancelled it. Hate to go in and say "well it was doing it"
Tranny fluid is GTG.
Any Ideas what it could be?
Thanks

Thanks for the reply,
It's not consistent. Does it on flat ground or slope, raining not raining, ac on or off. One day nothing, the next it's back
I had the Tranny fluid drained and fill at 15,000. I know that's way early, but want to keep the car for a long time.

It's the rear door lock solenoids probably, if it is set so all four doors unlock when you put it in park. My rear passenger door does this occasionally. If it happens all the time it might be worth taking it in under warranty if you can repeat it.
I can never repeat it though so I already know the dealership won't be able to replicate it and they'll give me the car back with "no problem found"
Edit: misread your post. If it's intermittent i'm 99% sure that's what the problem is judging from "when I put it in park" comment.

Open you hood, idle the car for 10 minutes or so and then shut it off with the door open so you can really hear everything.
Do you hear it then? Cause mine makes this electric motor sound from the engine bay every time I shut it off. It's not a squeak, but a definite motor noise. I think it has something to do with the VSA modulator, and is normal. It's not audible unless the hood is open though.
Any chance you could record the sound for us?

I'll try the open the hood thing, but my ears are shot, doubt if I could hear it in the car with the door closed. Still it's worth a try.
Recording the noise and uploading it here may be a challenge. All I have is a cheap track phone that will record, but I don't know how to get the file from there to here. Ill see what I can do.
Hoping it's the hatch lock.

+1 for the sound with the lock/unlock.
sometimes my door locks makes a weird squeaking noise when they do their thing.
Op did mention the sound came after he shut the engine off though. Doors only unlock when switched into park, I don't think there's a setting where the doors unlock when the engine is shut off right?
Unless he shut it off instantly after putting it into park, and could still here the unlock solenoids. Hell have to be a little clearer on the description and provide a sound clip if possible.
