Thumbs down Sylvania LED Map/Dome Light...

There's a product tag I use amongst my friends called "SYC" (Saw You Comin')... I guess that tag is similar to "R.I.C.E", but R.I.C.E doesn't really apply to all products - like you can't really call the Perfect Pancake Maker "R.I.C.E" but you can certainly call it SYC. So SYC, in my world, applies to any and all products that fail to deliver the performance or function they advertise.

Today, I learned Sylvania LED DE3175's are SYC of the highest order.

I wanted brighter interior lighting in my Fit, so I purchased two of these Sylvania LED bulbs to replace the map reading lights. I installed one and turned both of them on. I expected the LED to have a different color temperature, which it did. I also expected the LED to be much brighter - it isn't. The LED puts out less light than the factory bulb. So, triple the price of a regular bulb... and it's 20% +/- dimmer.

In short, If you just want the cooler color temperature, go for it... if you're expecting a different color AND brighter light, don't waste your money.

I put the stock ones back in and moved one of the new ones to the dome light - I'll let it ride their for a while until I find something better... or until it annoys me to the point where I remove it and smash it with a hammer.

I snapped a pic to upload to an Autozone review, but do not subscribe to any particular pic hosting sight... sorry.

Checking the iJDM Toy site now... I see the dome/map kit - which part number did you order for the cargo light? I assume not all the 168/194 options will fit in the cargo panel (??)

Why would you assume that the bulb should be brighter than stock simply by being LED? I think Sylvania purposely kept output similar to a stock bulb to be a direct replacement. The specs state cool white light and nothing about higher output. Your review rating is not being objective to what you purchased.

I purchased this same bulb soley due to NOT being higher output. My dome light went out and I actually thought the stock bulb was too bright so definitely didn't want something brighter. After install if the LED was brighter I would have been unhappy and returned it. I wanted it only for subdued white light and much much longer life. The LED bulb should outlive my Fit whereas the stock bulb was gone in 4 years.

But for my on demand map lights I want to keep the brighter stock lights and bulb life is not an issue as I very seldom use them.

Yeah... You're right. I suck. Still disappointed with the light output though. not really sure it's unreasonable to 'assume' the output would equal stock... My bad for misreading the package... It says "150% Whiter"... I saw "brighter"... Sylvania good. Dave bad.

A miscalculation made in choosing lights that are not as bright as expected, possibly.

This thread you started, as far as I'm concerned, has educated me into avoiding the Sylvanias cause I would like to get the same brightness level your after!!!

This posted share of your experience, definitely does not put you in the s..k category!!! FF forum continues to be a bountiful source of information as everyone (like yourself) is always willing to contribute personally gathered information (good or bad).

I have an interior dome LED (48 leds) available, if anyone wants to have we can arrange a good deal, send me a private message.

It was installed in my GE8 for 2 months, but I changed it for the JDM - Honda OEM Led
