New '13 Fit Owner

Hello everyone,

Just joined the site and bought a new 2013 Base Fit. I've had it for a little over two weeks now and am very happy so far. I considered waiting for the 2015 to show up but decided to go with the '13 for the following reasons:
  1. '13s were built and assembled in Japan. I wasn't sure what kind of growing pains to expect with the 2015s considering they are being built in a new factory, in a different country, with new workers. Maybe no problems at all but it potentially increases the variance for problems.
  2. Figured the '13s could sell for up to a couple grand cheaper than the '15s.
  3. I didn't have a car at all and didn't want to wait too long for the '15. Seemed like they kept pushing back the release date.
  4. CVT. I'd like to hear some more detailed experiences from other drivers with the new transmission. It might be great, might be a flop. Decided to wait a few years to let the data collect.
That's the short list.

This car really is fun to drive. I'm looking forward to many good years driving it. This site has a lot of great information!

It's got two weeks worth of bugs and dirt. AKA Character!

Welcome. Just a word from the wise. Milano Red has no clear coat. If you dont keep polished and/or waxed, it will turn pink. Just look at older red civics, integras, & preludes and youll see what no detailing will do.

my dealer also has 3 '13s left. Im debating buying one of the '13s, but i cant justify paying the same for a '13 sport as a '15 lx with all the extra equipment. If you dont mind me asking, was the price on yours (price + fees but no tax) pretty close to the '15 lx's msrp?

Thanks for the tip. I'm in Seattle with lots of cloudy days. That might delay the onset of Milano Pink. Any idea how many years it takes before it's noticeable?

Anyone have a suggestion for a brand/type of wax to use?

Paid $15877 before taxes. That included the destination charge. So only extras were taxes, license, and a $150 documentation fee for them to deal with the DMV on my behalf.

I use Meguiars clay bar and wax. UV rays go through clouds. Hence how you can be sun burned on a cloudy day. Understand sun is not the only thing that fades paint. There is no clear to protect the paint. That means road grime, salt, rubber from tires and salt air if near ocean are all destructive to paint. Claybar also known as paint soap pulls out impurities from paint. Polishing gives the paint a very smooth surface to wax. Washing the car with dish detergent helps to remove old wax b4 you wax. Hope this all helps.

I'd take the made in japan '13 sport over the '15 LX. The rims go a long way. Sport has front and rear sway bars too vs just front in LX. But I guess it depends on whether or not you like a firm solid ride only Japanese built hondas can mostly give or a softer ride more prone to rattles and less handling due to the skinny 15" tires. Just my .02 :-).
