Thinking of a new Fit

Hello! I am from Toronto, Canada and this is my first post at this forum.
I was thinking of getting a new Fit but got really concerned by lots of quality problems at the new Mexico assembly. Should I buy a last-year model instead? I also know that 2012-2013 models were made in China, so I doubt they were better quality. Was there ever a 2014 model? 2011 and older cars seems too old to me, I already have an old car. What should I do?

Get a new 2015 Fit! Do a good job inspecting the car before you take delivery. The Fit is a wonderful car, even with the occasional issue. Spend your time deciding between a CVT or manual transmission, and then decide what color you want. Enjoy your new car!

It's a massively produced car so you're going to hear all kinds of quality issues come up from time to time yet rarely hear about the ones with no issues. I wouldn't sweat it. The car has passed the litmus test in terms of safety and offers the quantitative numbers that place it ahead of the pack, as well as the qualitative driving experience to back it up.

The factory has produced a lot of cars now. Some quality control issues are normal for all manufacturers with a new plant or a new model. Everything major has been resolved. Only minor fit and finish issues occur now and when they do they are few and far between. My Fit was almost perfect. The only problem I had was some minor scratches across the hood like some jackass did his best Luke Duke impression. That could have happened anywhere from the factory to the dealer lot.

The scratches could only be seen at certain angles under certain lighting conditions. I pointed them out to the dealer and they buffed them right out in about 20 minutes.

Other than that, my Fit has run great and looks great. I just recently drove it over 1,000 miles in 2 days through some major, heavy rain storms that lasted for several hours both days. No leaks, no mechanical problems, and nothing odd in terms of driving experience. My lights had some condensation in them after, but it was gone the next day even though it sat out in the rain again for third day in a row.

Take a test drive. If you like it, buy it. Have no fear.

Value for dollar this is the best car you can get particularly in EX trim. People who see my Passion Berry Pearl are blown away by all the features. Test drive one and see what you think.

I've had my EX since October, only issue I found on delivery was a small scratch in the center console behind the shift boot. I test drove the 2013 base and sport, and the 2015 lx and ex. The 2015 has so many more features and to me, it felt that it handled better. The stock shifter in the 6MT is very light and felt a little funny at first. But it's an awesome car. I'm at about 6200 miles with no issues. Happy shopping!

Thanks for an encouragement, guys! We test-drove today and my wife actually liked the car. A little noisy accelerating on highway but I guess acceptable for such a little engine. Good room inside! It was EX model which cost a little more than I am willing to spend, so there is something to think about.
Oh, Fit_as_a_butchers_dog, Passion Berry Pearl does look great but is not available here. We have only 5 colors available for LX and 6 for EX.

I don't understand the complaint about an economy car being noisy. Mine is the manual and the sounds I hear sound good to me.

A lot of reviews say the CVT is noticeably louder. I never drove one with the CVT, so I can't speak to that.

Either way, if you don't want to hear the sounds that your car makes then you should be ready to pay more for a higher class of vehicle. Quietness and the level of it is a luxury item that you're not going to find much of in a sub-20K car.

I drove a 2015 Honda Civic Si and a 2015 Honda Fit LX 6 spd back to back a couple of weeks ago. I know they are two different classes in terms of performance and cost. The Civic had more power and features but I had a bigger smile driving the Fit. Plus I love hatchbacks. Maybe it's a Canadian thing. Lol

Placed my order for a 2015 LX in Aegean Blue after my test drive. Should be arriving at the dealership sometime next week. SO PUMPED!!! My very first BRAND NEW CAR!!!

If you like it, buy it!!

Cheers,
Jimmy

It's more fun to drive slow car fast than fast car slow.

Congrats Jimmy! This was my first brand new car as well! I am loving mine, and I hope you love yours too!

To the OP: There was no 2014 model, just the 2013. I recommend the 2015! :-D It's an economy car, so going to be noisier than a heavy car... but I don't mind, especially not for the price I paid & how much I love the car!

As it appears, there was a 2014 Fit, at least here in Canada. For example,

Cost almost as much as new 2015 and Made in China. Nice color, however!
