Shift idicator light

For those of you who have the new FIT with the 6-speed manual, does the FIT have a shift indicator light telling you when to shift?

I was curious if this was still a common thing.

I own a 2014 Fiesta with a manual transmission. The Fiesta in 2011-2013 model year all had shift idicator light with manual transmissons. When it was restyled in 2014 this feature was removed or is missing. It's not a problem with the my vehicle. It has been covered in Fiesta Forums and indeed has been done away with.

In my 1995 GMC truck with 5M, I never use the shift indicator light!

I haven't picked mine up yet from the dealership but I believe it does- it's more for energy efficiency and saving gas. The lights are green when you're in the correct gear and when you push the car a bit it turns blue. I hope it's not a distraction. To hell with the car telling me when to shift- I do it when it feels right.

It's very distracting. Glad it's not on my Fiesta. I test drove two 2013 Fiestas. Both had a shift light. 2014 it was gone. Glad is was.

Just like everything. The day's of driving a car is over. All you are anymore is a steerer. You just aim it where it needs to go. Soon that will be gone too.

Might as well take the bus or subway.

I was fortunate enough to own a Mustang GT. Steering the car with the gas peddle is a lost art.
Dumping the clutch and throwing it sideways and doing a burn out, fun. 😆.

Traction control and vehicle stability control, can't even do a burn out anymore.

That shift light has always been an attempt to squeeze fuel mileage from it. If you follow it, some little old Grandma will run you over!

More specifically, at least for a time, if a vehicle had a shift indicator light it would be followed when performing EPA testing, rather than using some arbitrary fixed shift points determined by the EPA. I think, but I'm not sure, that the EPA test cycle doesn't rely on the shift indicator as much anymore, which partly explains its disappearance.

In other words, the light was intended mostly to squeeze mileage numbers, not even to squeeze actual mileage.
