i forget. it's near noon position though, and the redline itself i hard to see. end up hitting rev limiter often.

 

6800 RPM is when the limiter kicks in. The tach actually reads about 7k when you get there but I think but there's some error.

WHY? Though its too late to make any difference for my Fit, if you look at the "break in driving" threads, some talk about at what mileage you should let the car get to what % of red line. It occured to me that for the Fit, I have no idea what RPM is red lined and when I looked in the owners manual, I didn't find it. 6800 rpm, I will have to take a closer look at my tach, I never noticed a red line on it before.

 

yah, just drive it gently the first 1k miles. that's all. as long as you dont mash the gas abruptly, even if you hit redline occassionally you're fine.
same goes for the brakes.. easy braking.

 

proper breakline entails various levels of aggression occasionally, and never maintaining a constant speed the first 500 miles or so.


These newer engines tend to break in a bit faster since they are built to much better tolerances then of old.


DO NOT change the oil early. make sure you get at least 3-4k miles. THe oil put into the new engine has specific additives and detergents to allow proper break-in, and is doing its job of clearing metal debris much better then any off the shelf oil.
