Check gas cap....message.
Yesterday 3 days "after" a glass attendant filled the tank my dash displayed "check gas cap". I turned the engine off and removed gas cap and then reseated the cap making sure it clicked. The message is still on I have used 1/8 a tank of gas and I went through all the dash displays with out being able to remove the display.
Please note 3 days prior to the fill up I had gotten an oil change at the dealer and they inspected the car @ 40K. I wonder if they did something inadvertently?
BTW I'm lending the car to my brother as his car will be getting work done for a week. Being he will put 800 miles on the car should I let him drain the tank through use and see if a new tankful clears it or go to the dealer ASAP? Or just buy a new cap? Do I need a dealer cap or aftermarket as I'm sure Honda OEM caps won't be cheap.
Thanks in advance.

In Pennsylvania, we have two tiers of inspections and unfortunately, I live in a tougher one. The inspection station had removed my gas and placed in a vacuum tester. They broke many retaining straps that are attached to the gas cap.
Wonder if the inspection station removed your gas cap for testing and damaged it. Had to have been working to pass since it is one of those 100% markup items, plus the labor, a station would want to sell you but they didn't. Maybe they tested your cap, passed, but put another gas cap on the car.

See my thread below...you don't need to do anything. It will go away. FWIW if you do want to buy a spare gas gap, www.carid.com has 'em for about $6.00...WAY cheaper than the $40.00 I quoted by my local Honda dealer!
