2008 GD battery 5.5yrs no issue when sold
2009 GD battery 6.5yrs no issue when sold
2012 GE battery 4.5yrs no issue when sold
2016 GK battery 2rd year, no issue and dont expect any.

but then im a guy that had a 2004 car sold last year on original battery without issue.
trick is to watch the water level and keep the battery charged. no repetitive super short trips.

I just replaced mine last year after 7 years and 115,000 miles. It was still working but died when I left the door open for about 15 mins (so I decided to change it).

I am surrendering. My Fit just won't start once it gets below -10 C. If I leave it for two days the battery is dead dead dead. Had it tested last Jan at Honda and they said it was fine. This is my 2nd or third one. Yesterday I opened the hood and did all the mods necessary as in this video to install a 51R. Will be shopping for best deal.

I might go get a second opinion. Auto Parts stores will often check your batteries for free. If it is indeed low?
Sure, why not replace it?

Don't want to waste resources. So I'd have it rechecked by someone else. But if it is low? I'm for erring on the side of caution. I'd rather deal with I prematurely replaced my battery by a few months....than I'm stranded and the vehicle wont start.

Almost like I have a power drain somewhere. But even after one very cold night it is dead. I have not spent anything on it this year so time to try a 51R. My 2010 Caravan sits besides it with original battery and starts every time.

Well I could have it rechecked but just think it needs more power. We will see come Jan

Well my response was actually meant for the original OP.
In that case I'd want a second opinion because his mechanic keeps saying the battery is low...but it keeps going 8 months+.

Not saying his mechanic is wrong. But, since getting a second opinion and check should be easy, and possibly absolutely free...I'd do it.

OP here.

Still have the OEM battery, lol, but I see my dealer has a battery special for $100 so I'm going to have it replaced this weekend when I get the recalled airbag replaced. It does crank a little slower but still starts daily.

I think 5 years is a good life cycle for the battery, I thought about buying one of those USB-C power banks/portable jump starter for a backup, but I'll wait about 3 years after I get my original 151R battery replaced.

I replaced mine on my 2010 fit last year when I bought a new set of tires.
I owned it for 5 years at the time and I bought it with 63k miles on it so I'm not sure if it had been replaced before or not but mine had needed a couple jumps to get started so I figured it was time. No issues since.

2013 Honda Fit owner. Purchased in 2015. Just replaced my OEM battery two weeks ago. My OEM could have gone a little further, but when I added water to it, the status indicator stopped working, and I didn't want to chance getting stuck.

Note: I'm sick of maintenance free batteries that need maintenance.

2013 base Fit. Replaced last spring after dealer said it failed cranking voltage test. Entirely too much money, but now it's good for another 5 years, hopefully.

2013 Honda Fit Manual owner here. Purchased in 2014. Began to experience some weaker starts this year. Topped off the battery water levels, and, for some reason, the little blue/red dot indicator disappeared, so I replaced the battery. Probably could have gone longer on the OEM, but caution got the better of me.

I'm on my 4th battery as of today (original new 2013 Honda Fit OEM, 2016 OEM, 2020 NAPA, 2024 OEM.What does it mean about adding water to battery? (It's Honda 31500-SNC-00100M battery (44B19L-S).

Thanks for any replies.
