Selling my 2012 MT Fit, experiences?

Hey,

Has anyone recently tried to sell their MT Fit privately? I'm thinking about posting it up for sale but since it's a manual transmission I wanted to get some feedback whether it takes a long time to get sold. Obviously it would be faster to trade it in to a dealer or sell it off to a Carmax but I'm hoping to do a bit better than those lowball offers.

I'm thinking about $7500 for a 2012 sport MT with 70k miles in excellent shape. Is that far out of line? I've been using the car to commute back and forth between NYC and Boston every week and although its a great car in terms of reliability, it's not ideal as a highway cruiser.

Thx kenchan. I did get a carmax appraisal but they offered me $6k main reason it being an MT. I walked the lot and saw a 2011 MT with more miles and worse shape and it was listed for $9k so I'm thinking that I would get a bit more in a private sale.

What ended up being the best way to sell your fit?

I'm getting ready to sell mine.

I was in the market for another car so I shopped around a couple of dealerships and traded it in. It took about a month of negotiating but I finally found a dealer that was willing to give me what I wanted for the Fit instead of lowballing me. I got $9k for it and I was happy with that.

Wow. They gave you a gift at 9 grand! I sold a 2011 MT with 60k miles on my lot...COULD NOT GET RID of it for more than 7200. (Retail was 9980!)
