Unhappy Alarm goes off randomly

2009 Fit Sport here. Sometimes when it is raining the alarm will go off randomly and I need to hit the unlock button to stop it. Happened at work and at home so I don't think it's an animal. One rainy night it went off at 1055pm, 305am, 525am, and 645am. Then it will be raining another night and not go off at all. I left it unlocked last night so the alarm won't arm and it did not go off.
I am sleeping so not accidentally hitting the button.
No aftermarket electrical upgrades and a new battery. It may have done it once on the old battery but not sure.
I looked for a hood sensor but could not see any wires going to the hood latch.

Should I just take it to a dealer?

Thanks!

It is quite a simple repair, no need to have someone else do it if you've got experience with a couple screw driver's

Is that a manual or something? send me the link please? So you think I should clean the hood latch?
Thanks

Did you ever fix this problem. My car alarm just started to go off randomly this past weekend too. Was wondering if you just cleaned these connectors or replaced any parts entirely to fix this?

I did not fix it but haven't been able to replicate the issue.

2010 Sport here... last weekend it just started doing this... I cleaned the hood latch and it still did it.

I then replaced the FOB battery in both FOBs and boom, alarm hasn't gone off in 5 days. It was going off last wednesday every time in locked it!

So try replacing the FOB battery!

It is almost certainly the front hood latch sensor. So random that you may think that replacing your keyfobs has worked some magic, but it hasn’t. Keyfobs have no impact on your Alarm. You can replace the whole latch assembly in about an hour with ease. Or, I believe you can simply disconnect the sensor on that latch—which Is actually quite difficult to do. Easier to just swap the part. Ours was intermittently doing this for two years, and each time I thought I fixed it, it eventually came back. Nothing for more than a year since I replaced the latch.

I'm confident my sensor needs to be cleaned up, disconnected, or replaced (2009) but I'm not in a position where I can work on it at the moment (I just had my hip replaced.)

Up until we had some wind and rain storms here, I was able to just manually lock it and the alarm wouldn't go off randomly. Now it's going off pretty consistently.

Does anyone know if I can just leave the hood open before I manually lock it for the sensor not to act as if it is connected? Again, I'm just looking for something I can do quickly so I don't tick off all the neighbors.

I might just have to disconnect the battery until I can do the removal work to clean the sensor. I'm told I won't be able to drive for 2 months (manual transmission, left hip replaced.)

Maybe I can take out the fuse for the latch, does anyone know which one? Would prefer not to take the one out for the horn in case I forget to put it back - seems the horn might also be the break/stop light? (https://fuse-box.info/honda/honda-fi...009-2014-fuses)

Thanks!

Hi Fitfreaks. Just wanted to add my self to the list. and hopefully help someone prevent this situation. My problem started a week prior, as always I locked my Fit with the usual double click to my surprise I didn't get the usual beep, so I came back to the car and check the doors, and in fact they were closed. didn't think much of it. The rest of the week I keep trying to figure out what was going on, and found several post about the car not beeping at you if any door, or the hood wasn't closed. So, I pop the hood open and then closed again. and bam, the car was making the beep, so I was happy, but that didn't last long because 3 days after, it snow where i live, and as I parked the car, and I was inside my apartment I can hear my car alarm go off. I hit the unlock then lock again, just to find my self doing the same for 4 times. so I decided to disconnect the battery,(if you do make sure to disconnect the negative terminal, is always safe to disconnect that one first, but you don't need to disconnect the positive if you just want to have the car go off) while inspecting the latch I realized the springs seem kinda rusted, I would be attempting to disconnect the latch, clean, and lubricate with grease, and apply electrical grease to the connector for the sensor, to see if that helps until I can get a new latch, since I doubt they have those in stock anywhere.
so, if you live in a area with snow, and things are prone to rust, I would suggest lubricating things like door hinges, latches, etc. I also need to replace the door hatch handle, since is rusted as well. so good luck to all .

HELP! Defective Door Sensor

My fit goes off all of the time. The dealership confirmed that the driver-side door sensor is shot, which is super expensive to have replaced. (I looked and can't find a nondealership mechanic to replace it.) Can I remove a fuse to disarm the door sensor? I know where the fuse box is but I'm not sure which door sensor fuses I can remove. Also, I'd be happy to permanently disconnect the alarm. But none of the fuses is labeled "alarm."

Thanks!

Hello LAKane,

Attached is what I think an appropriate wiring diagram per your request. Looks like you might have to pull the door switch sensor wires out.
Hopefully it helps!

yep exact same issue here First ruled out hood latch. So it’s possibly caused by a sprained / sticky rear tailgate Lock. Makes no sense as it locks and closes securely but the handle is stiff and has to be manually pushed back to starting position. I know it’s not triggered by any rain or thunderstorm as this HOnka has honked multiple times while I’m out on errands without a cloud in the sky and no breeze.

When it locked without beeping for the last month at least I knew it wouldn’t be honking but lately it’s started randomly arming itself and Honking the night away just to ruin my life and gain me haters. Then such *helpful* unsolicited know-it-all opinions/advice everywhere I go during the day from random dudes.

Honda Dealersh1t gave me the total runaround. Upsold me on random possibilities that solved and corrected nothing. $700 and 2 dead batteries into it NOT being addressed correctly by them. - I’m now in the habit of popping the hood and disconnecting the negative when I get home so me and the rest of my apartment building can sleep at night. Twice it has honked intermittently all night long, caused ragey complaints (rightfully so) and was starting to sour formerly great relationships with people in my building.

It’s super stressful and is making me hate my car

Dude, I'm sorry. If you've got your receipts, what parts have been replaced so far?
I think one of the issues a Honda/dealership mechanic might run into is that when they do troubleshooting for a fault, procedures take them down a list of ohm and voltage readings on specific wires, components. They start at #1 and go 'til they get the first set of numbers that are out of specified range. Sometimes parts will read slightly out of spec and still operate. Heck, I've done the same and replaced parts that came in as having somewhat high resistance only to find that the dealer's brand new replacement part also had high resistance and didn't sort the issue out. The manual says go no further 'til everything's in spec.. dealt with similar stuff back when I worked as an enlisted mechanic. Managers that don't wrench want it done by the book. Can't really blame 'em, cuz if stuff goes wrong and procedures weren't followed...

After you check-off what's been replaced, check out your hinges and latches. As with the other folks here, be on the lookout for binding and, without spraying down any electronics, lube it.
After that we can chase wires with a multimeter and you can list numbers, or you can find a local private shop with a good rep that isn't bound by procedures.

Sorry you're dealing with this issue. I'll check and see if there's a horn fuse. All rainy here in the south, so I prolly wont be digging my hands in to disconnect the horn in the front bumper and find out if that causes any other problems
