2010 Fit Power Steering not working

Hi all!

I just picked up my first Honda Fit & almost immediately the power steering light came on the dash & the power assist stopped working. From what I have read, I think it may be the ESP module, but would like to properly diagnose before buying parts. A couple questions:

- When I used a standard code reader, no codes appeared that had to do with power steering; do I need to get a different reader/ scanner to access power steering codes?

- I wanted to check fuses for the power steering- is it only the fuses at the battery?

Thanks a bunch guys I'm looking forward to driving this little car once I get it all sorted!

Hi,
Curious how you made out. I had this happen once a couple weeks ago with my 2012 Fit. Light came on while idling in the driveway. Steering became very stiff almost like the car was not running but it was. Turned it off and it restarted with no light and have driven it ever since with no problems. A friend checked for codes and there were none. I called a dealer and they haven’t heard of any issues. They did say that do it yourself code readers don’t always read power steering codes and they would be happy to test it for $160.
