Just did the install last week. Install was very straight forward. Only problem I had was how the hell did you guys remove the bumpstops for front and rear I cut about an 1in off the front by just lifting the boot because I could not seperate it and did not touch the rears because it was destroying the threads on the shock shaft. I installed df210s which I think is a little softer than stock. To answer the above question I installed with the logo right side up.

Does anyone know the torque spec for the sway bar link to the strut at the front by any chance?

Thank you very much! Seems like the torque setting for this part is the same on the gd3. However, I needed to be sure for that peace of mind, and better safe than sorry! Thanks again for the diagram!

I was wondering, what are the symptoms of the axle popping out issue? I was very careful using the bungee cords and a jack, and at the end I was able to reinstall the strut assembly with out issues. If the axle did pop out, what are the visual queues? Any sounds? Problems reinstalling the assembly? Driving issues?

You won't be able to line the strut holes with the holes on the knuckle. Just happened to me yesterday reinstalling my oem suspension

Ah I see, I was just a bit worried seeing the rubber boots on the axles a bit bent/stretched, but I suppose that is normal?

It's normal if you suspension is unloaded off the ground. It should straighten out more or less almost straight across unless you're extremely lowered.

I didnt have to touch the axles or tie them up during my install. I simply carefully and slowly moved them over to one side, and let go slowly, so it used their inner joint bearings to hold it in palce.

They pop out when you drop them or toss them over without thinking lol

Do you remember the torque for the top of the rear shock - in the trunk? Any reason to think the torque settings would be the same for the 07 FIT? Looks very similar. Can't find the specs anywhere..

Thanx

The specs are -for the SELF-LOCKING NUT
10 x 1.25 mm
29 N·m
(3.0 kgf·m, 22 lbf·ft)

Interesting they say to replace these nuts as they are self locking so likely are damaged when removing. Anyways I have not seen anyone on here mention replacing them, I know I didn't and it has been over three years and have not had one come loose.

Front spring replacement

I didn't use a torque wrench when assembling my front struts. Tightened it all the way and the car is very low. Put a jigger spring in and didn't see any hight increase. Is it maybe because I over torqued it just doing it by hand? It compressed the spring just a little bit.

doesnt matter if you overtorqued, the front struts have the rods machined so they sit up against the top pillows perfectly. the spring and seat are what ocntrol ride height.

Even if you removed the upper pillar bushing, the ride height will be the same.

I really want to machine mine further down so the strut isnt riding in its danger zone with my 2inch drop springs

I'm having trouble with the top nuts. Even with the cowl removed, I can't find a way to get my impact over that nut, I don't think there is such thing as a swiveling socket that could reach is there?

If I tried to do it by hand, my Allen key just starts to bend and I'm worried about stripping the inside of the shaft.

Anyone got any Advice on breaking the top nut? (Front struts). Thinking of picking up some kroil to help out here....

installing rear tomorrow, will do fronts next weekend

edit:

installed rears.

2 quick notes on rear springs:
1.) you don't have to remove the wheels.
2.) when disconnecting the abs lines there is a top and a bottom to disconnect on each side.
3.) bonus note: take your time!

i was quoted $650 for all 4 + alignment.

i was quoted $350 for just front two plus alignment

Lowering springs

Hey I was just curious with the lowering springs for the REAR. After you put the oem bushing back on the lowering spring, how do you know which hole the little nipple thing on the bottom of the bottom bushing is supposed to go in? Cause there's multiple holes to fit the nipple on the bushing. I have tein s techs and just worried if I installed wrong. Thanks!
