Definitely not. The messiest I've had to deal with has to be my 06 Tacoma. I was fortunate and had the 2.7 4 cylinder, but when changing the filter, oil would run all the way down the block and on the crossmember. Those that had the V6 had it worse (since the filter was inverted. The Fit is one of, if not the, easiest to change the oil on...

 

Older 90's Hondas, with the oil filter half-way up the rear of the engine block, were MESSY.



The all-time prize in cars I have owned was an '80 Dodge Colt (Mitsubishi Mirage). The filter always made a mess, and the access was so tight, I had to dent the backside of the filter can to get it installed.

 

We had many Dodge Colts / Plymouth Champs dating from '80 > '92 . Also had the '92 (?) Eagle Summit sedan with the 5 speed manual that was purchased new . That had plenty of room in the cabin . Did have a '82 Plymouth Champ with the twin stick . That is one of my favorite Mitsu's . Bought many of them used for $600 or less . Lowest one was an '80 orange 3 door Colt with the 3 speed auto for $125 . That went on for about 3 or 4 years . Did some O.C.s' on them , but forget how those went .

All Toyota's I've worked on are worse. The '87 Dodge Ram Van 5.2L has the drain plug aimed directly at the exhaust crossover pipe.

 

My moms 07 is probably one of the cleanest oil changes I've run across. The only cleaner one i can think of is the Honda/Acura J-series V6's, the filter on those is already upside down and its right behind the passenger front wheel, so you have to drop the filter to get oil anywhere other than in the drain pan.

But yea the Fit's besides the little dribble that runs down the side of the pan there really isn't much mess. And they made the little hole in the 07 at least that you can put the rag on your finger and reach up there and clean all the drips.

 

Nah, Fit's one of the easiest/cleanest i've run across.

Miatas are a pain to get to the filter. Also like said earlier, 90's Hondas with the filter in the back of the motor that guaranteed to spill all the way down the back of the block. Some Chevy truck filters are sadistically close to the exhaust pipes, I have the perminant burn marks to show for it

 

I've had many cars of all brands. The Fit is by far the easiest to maintain car I've ever owned. Thats one of the reasons I bought a second nearly identical Fit for my wife.

 

Nope, the fit is nice and clean. On the subaru I had the filter was on the bottom of the engine (easy to get too) but it made a mess when you took it off since it was one of the lowest parts in the oiling system....
