Question CEL P0139 - Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) Slow Response Bank 1 Sensor 2

Hello All,
Got my first CEL on my 2010 Honda Fit (base/auto). Before I go out and buy a new o2 sensor I had a couple questions for you.

1) Which sensor is this? I'm assuming the rear one?

2) Could this be something else (should I test for other stuff before buying sensor?) I read it could be something to do fuel pressure/injectors/vacuum leaks/exhaust leaks.

3) Should I get a genuine honda part or are there aftermarket ones that are just as good?

4) Any suggestions on where to buy the parts from? I have to get a few other things as well and would like to save money.

Thanks for your help

Get a Denso O2 sensor. The universal sensors are NOT wide-band and the code will come back.

Rock Auto sells these at good prices (but I would reference the number for the Fit on the Denso site to make sure you have the correct one, first)

You need to post the actual code. Usually the first sensor sets a CEL before the second one. The second sensor monitors catalytic converter efficiency, if its a P0420 (and you lived with the misfire/stutter that many Fits experience) your cat-con could be bad.

Hey Carbuff,
Thanks for your help. The CEL was in the title : P0139

No noticeable difference driving at all. The light actually went a way a couple times (but always came back).

D'Oh! Stop hiding it in plain sight.

I looked here:
OBD-II Trouble Code: P0139 Oxygen Sensor Circuit Slow Response (Bank1, Sensor2)

I've not seen this as a common problem on Fits but it could be a bad or broken sensor wire.

Part number: 36532-RB1-004 Tres Expensive! $121 USD

It's right at the bottom (#14) so it COULD have damaged wires

So it's confirmed, on the Fit it's the lower (post-Cat) sensor.

Rock Auto has NTK (AKA NGK) sensor for ~$63
Denso @ RA is more $$ than than Bernardi @ $147

I'd have a look before purchasing anything, wires can be repaired....

Did replacing your downstream oxygen sensor after the catalytic converter fix your problem? Thank you

thank you for your reply,

I meant to also ask did your car have any symptoms when it was throwing the code or was it just the code itself? Any stalling or rough idle or delayed pedal response or any symptoms at all that went away after replacing the 02 sensor??

Thanks Again

edit: Oh nvm I guess you said there was no noticeable difference in driving. So there were never any symptoms, but replacing the downstream sensor made the code disappear forever. Huh

I have read in other posts that you should always replace an O2 sensor that matches the one you are Not replacing.
OR replace both of them, and go with Bosch even though it's more $, it's less trouble down the road.

Good luck,
michel

yes it is now fixed. I would highly recommend the Bosch instead of cheaper brands.
Quality counts, ( & it 's not something I enjoyed changing, for sure)

only got the code, therefore wouldn't pass inspection.
Car ran ok before and after.
Code went away, car's inspected now.

Bought mine from Honda of Keene for less than $100.
Quick (relatively) fix.

If you buy the "honda OEM part" you're paying a lot more for the same part.
