2nd Gear Weirdness

2nd Gear Weirdness
So I just got my 2010 Honda Fit a week ago (sweeeet, I know) and it's awesome. I have an automatic transmission, but like to run through the gears myself. On it's own, in drive it'll shift around 3k rpm. I usually push it past that when I shift myself.
Anyway, 1st to 2nd it shifts fine between 3500 and 4k, but from 2nd to 3rd it pushes almost to 5k before it shifts when I shift around 4k. Is that normal? Should I just wait longer to shift?

Yessir, its when I've been driving for a bit. It shifts just fine when I have it in drive. Its only when I'm manually shifting through the gears, from second to 3rd, it just wants to rev farther after I up shift.

Safe to say the fit wasn't my first choice, especially after my Ford F-250. But it was the smarter, more responsible choice. The fact that I learned to love it is just icing on the cake

Congrats on your purchase !
Didn't check the rpm, but when I tried manual shift using paddles on wife's 2009 Fit Sport (auto) with gear selector in Sport mode, I noticed that down and up shift happened few moments after I clicked on the paddle. If you feel that it's not responsive enough, try changing out the fluid.
Do you know when the transmission fluid was changed?

Are you trying to up shift using the paddles in automatic mode and not in sport mode???
If you try short shifting in auto the Trans revs out over riding your paddle request because the pcm is in charge of the shift due to the throttle position. If your mashing on the gas it's going to hold the upshift.
