GE8: Time to replace the brakes
Hello fellow Fit owners,
Hope you are well. After 97k miles my mechanic says it is time. Going to go slotted and vented rotors up front with Porterfield R4S pads unless you can convince me something else is better.
What is the best rear drum pad to use?
What brake fluid that is compatible and has a pretty good wet boiling point?
Drive the car in a spirited fashion and plan to autox it as much as I can afford.
Keep safe.

If you went 100K on OEM pads then you are not that hard on brake pads. Just about any pad will do. Choose the one that you like best. As far as rotors go, you may not need them. Check the condition of the existing ones to see if they need t be replaced. Slotted or drilled rotors are OK if you want to spend the extra money. It does not take a lot to stop this light weight car.
Rear brakes only do about 30% of the stopping and do not wear as fast as front ones and may not need to be replaced as often. Check their condition before replacing the shoes.
On brake fluid. DOT 3 is specified. DOT4 is compatible with DOT 3 and has a higher wet boiling point. Flushing the fluid is recommended if you have not done in the last few years.
