Yay! I got the bazooka tube amp/sub put in the other day, and I love it.

It sounds really good, and the best part is that it is totally removable. I replaced the stock bazooka straps with buckle straps, and combined with the one plug that goes into the actual tube, it's only three clicks away from removal/install, which is an important feature for me, since I load my car up often and may not always be able to have room for a sub back there.

However, I went to best buy to get it installed for the super low price of $240. I was NOT pumped. Sure, it's a lifetime guarantee for installation, but it still seems pretty steep. It was wired into the back speakers, and it sounds good (after a bunch of messing with the sound settings- it took a solid hour of tuning to get the mids back.... the sound guy at best buy managed to have it set for just tweeters and subs- If i wanted that, id strip the system and just crank up an ipod radio 10 clicks past max)....

Anyways, its a good product and it fits (heh- barely) right behind the passenger side back seat.

what head unit are you running this with?

 

The stock headunit. Thats why the sub is wired off the rear speakers- didnt want to mess with those pretty looks....

 

do you have any pictures?...I've been thinking about getting the 10' but wana see what it looks like first

Nice so do ya have just 1? I did the same thing w/ keeping the OEM and wiring to the rears too. I used a single 12" w/ a 200wt amp bridged and love'n it! added a set of digital tweets this w.e. in the rear 1/4 glass area.

Where did you guys splice into the rear speaker-wire? By the B-pillar? (floor beside front seat).

 

That's where I did it on my GD3. I'm pretty sure it'd be the same on a GE8. Some GE8 owner has posted the wire colors I'm sure.

 

I have same setup on my GE, but wired in at the head unit. It was a very clean install, but the big radio face plate is just 1/8" off around the AC/Heater controls...if I had to do again, would wire off the rear speakers and run power up the front.

The SAS-10 works well, it is just that the factory HU and speakers suck donkey balls. Really bad sound. I guess speakers would be next for me.

 

I had a non powered Bazooka back in the early 90's and that thing pounded for what it was with only 110 watts going into it.

 

So does anyone have pics of the Bazooka 10-inch tube sub/amp in the back of their GD8 yet? I'm seriously thinking of getting one too but I'd like to see what kind of "barely fits" we're talking about.

 

This here will sound alot better than a bazooka tube. But for sound quality, its always best to use a seperate amp and a sub in proper enclosure. amplified subs like the tube are just boomy, usually tuned way too high as well.

 

Will you PLEASE tell me the wiring colors you used for the install? I'm wanting to install mine and I can't figure out which color is for the 12v and which colors are for the speakers.

 

Normally Red is for power, black is ground, speaker wires have a stripe.
