ambient light kit

does anyone have this? I'm not sure if this is standard in the sport or if it was an extra option. I just installed it in my base and I have to say I really like it but it is underwhelming. I'm tempted to pick up a second kit (which is trivial because the wire harnesses daisy-chain). I have a manual so it would be nice to have a second light more on the gas side and the 2nd (/4th total) light in the center console for the shifter.

You wasted your money on that kit. Any pair of say 5-7 inch LED strips from Ebay work just as well. Just connect them in Fuse box to the dome light plug circuit.

Just add the wires to the plug with pink and blue wires. If don't work just reverse the wires.

Oh I completely understand you can rig something for a fraction of the price. It's just a way of taking factory parts and put it on lumen par with the acura mdx. There is definitely a quality difference in appearance. Also it is a zero solder or surprise setup.

Quality in appearance? You can't see physically them and the light is much brighter than the stock kit.

Zero solder if use add a fuse or just put the wires in with the plug.

But. then some would rather spend the money.

Yeah, very valid point and I'm an electrical engineer, well aware I can do it for a fraction and have infinitely more options... I'm just doing pure factory clean and honestly price doesn't bother me. parts get here in a few days. I'll post some without, one set and two set pics. I think it will be a nice change.

for what it's worth, this cheap kit i bought on Amazon has really impressed me. just the right amount of light, & it even has a setting where it syncs the colors of the light to music. i don't actually use that, but it's kind of cool to have a "trippy" mode button on my dash. heh.

thats pretty cool. I mean I got my entire house on phillips hue bulbs. I won't lie, it's cool to give exacting color and brightness.... Anyways, have the second set half way in. It is complete plug and play stock. Currently keeping it where it is two seperate switches and see how I feel before joining them on one switch, but it's leds for the drivers foot well, one for the stick and one for the passenger. I'll put some pics up this weekend, It'll be nice without any thought process.

I've been wanting to do this mod, but I want the lights to stay on while I drive. However I don't know which wire to tap into for that. Everyone always says to tap into the dome light.

Use the auxiliary circuit then. I would put a switch in as well in case you want to turn them off when having a conversation with a cop?
