Route 66 part Duex!

It was a really nice day here in the Chicagoland area so the g/f and I went for a little ride. We went through Wilmington, Odell and Dwight Illinois. Enjoy the pics!

Cool! I always forget that it started that far east. I tend to think of it as a western road, primarily.

Arizona put a lot of work into signposting the historic route, or at least the final alignment last time I went through there (Winter of 2007)

Oh jeez... I would have no idea what to do. I recently stopped on a ride with some friends at a place with old-fashioned gas-pumps like this:

I had no clue what I was doing. My buddies were laughing at me as I searched for a start button somewhere on there... finally, I found the little swing lever. Since I started driving (1997) every place I've gone has had the fully electronic ones with the pushbutton everything and digital displays.

The pumps aren't operational and I'm not sure how to use those, but the one above this pic I do, its what I grew up using....I started driving in 1986

Operational mechanical pumps are rare these days as they don't have the digits available for today's gas prices.
