Thank you for all the nice comments! I am loving this car, and I'm really happy with how it's all coming together. I still have plenty of parts sitting in my basement, and several neat ideas percolating in my brain, too. If I had to name the look I'm going for with this car, it would be "Sleek Sporty".

oh and burn these tires and get new ones... these are a real insult to the Fit's capabilities!
Ya know, I was just at my local racing shop where I had my springs installed, and we were talking about wheels and tires. I was already planning on getting some new tires, but then I saw these on one of their cars:

http://www.ssr-wheels.com/wheels/typec_171819.asp

It was love at first sight. And at 11lbs, oh my god, I can't even imagine how sweet that would be..... Only problem: they are freaking expensive. I need to figure out how to justify the money haha.

You better keep that paint protected.
Oh, don't even get me started. I am incredibly irritated with how weak the paint on this car is. Honda should be ashamed. I'll be doing my best with the waxing.

I thing it might be some play of the lighting, but me definitely likes.
The color is deepened just a hair in most of the pics for more pop, and there is some simple photoshopping done for some style, but nothing too tricky or misleading. I just think the Fit photographs really well.

now its time to get them red h emblems?
I keep going back and forth on this one. I'm starting to feel pretty strongly that the red emblems will throw off the sleek lines that the awesome stock front grill and hatch garnish give the car.

Thanks again for all your nice comments! If the weather cooperates this week I'm going to detail the interior and get some more pics.

I took them for a quick spin around the neighborhood then got them off the car. We're going to have some cold rainy crappy weather for the next week or so, and these are going to be for track/autocross only.

Looks good, now you just need to match the stitching on that center console to your new seats!

Actually, I really like having the armrest in that off-white. Visually it's pretty striking and compliments the red stitching really well. Between the double-din LCD and the multicolored displays all over the Fit cockpit, it's almost a lost cause trying to get the whole landscape down to a 2 color (black/red) scheme. The white stitching sits directly across from the white dials in the center console so it works well, visually, and seperates the two seats nicely.

I really wish we could get some warm weather so I can get my trim kit installed. I'm really excited to show that off to you all.

I'll have some more pics with the RPF1's after the 2nd weekend in April. I'm taking it to Mid-Ohio for three days of track time (NASA HDPE).

EvoFit was asking me about how to install the snaps for the cargo cover in the back of the rear seats with the Clazzio covers. I thought I'd share how I did it.

"No, there's no holes in the clazzio leather for the snaps. You just have to very carefully put them in the right spots.

Here's what I did, and it worked pretty well: take off the snaps if they are already installed in your seats and get the clazzios all installed. Then, unzip the rear covers and find the holes where the snaps were. You can get those first snaps on each rear seat in place through the seat cover by sight and touch if you are careful and take your time.

Then, fold the seats down flat. Zip up the side of the clazzio covers to get them tight again.

Lay the cargo cover down and snap the two snaps you have (one on each seat). Make sure everything is straight and laying flat. The rest of the snaps on the cargo cover will be laying *exactly* where the screw needs to go into the seat back. Take your time and it is extremely easy.

I wish I had figured that trick out before I put an extra hole or two in the passenger side seat cover, trying to blindly figure out where the screw went!"

This past weekend, I took my Fit on it's first road trip to Chicago. Averaged 36mpg at 65-70mph.

Today, in preparation for this coming weekend's NASA event at Mid-Ohio (I'll be running HPDE1), I waxedit and got my RPF1's on the car. The Star Specs are stickers, so I need to get a couple of heat cycles into them in the next couple of days. We're supposed to have crappy weather though....

blah blah blah, yeah I know, you just want pics!

A few Fitful thoughts tonight....

I've been tracking my car at Mid-Ohio these past two days. Tomorrow I'm cleared to drive without an instructor if I choose to. I'm the only Fit here (kinda surprising considering the Spec B class is supposed to begin next year). It's been getting an awful lot of attention. Yesterday, the attention was mostly because it's an oddity. Also, we ran almost the whole day in the rain. I was consistently one of the fast cars in my group of novice/intermediate drivers, mostly because my car handled like it was on rails no matter how wet it was. It took rain, drizzle, semi-dry, misty - pretty much every possible cold and wet condition - and treated them all like a walk in the park.

Today (a day that started cold and cloudy and eventually got very nice), as the day went on, I had people stopping me to tell me how impressed they are with Fit. Drivers, instructors, even the Hawk Brake Pads' bigwig noticed and paid attention to how great the GE handles the very technical Mid-Ohio course.

I was asked a dozen times what suspension mods it has. Every single person was surprised to hear "just Swift springs". People can't believe how the car digs in and hooks up with almost no body roll.

I was still attacking turns deep into the session with almost no brake pad fade (using Hawk HPS) thanks to the weight and nimble handling (even with 200lb me and 150lb instructor weighing us down).

Now, all of that being said, the lack of get-up-and-go with the 1.5 vtech makes for a loooooong backstretch haha. It takes sooooo long to get up to speed, meaning this is a true momentum car. If you lose your momentum, you're dead in the water. Buuuuut carry some good speed into a technical section and hit all your marks, and it's about the most fun you'll ever have on 4 wheels.

Tomorrow it's going to be 80 and sunny. Should be a wonderful day on the track!
