Talking Progress GE8 RSB

I have had my Rear Sway Bar on order from Progress since last November (order #1). I just got off the phone with Joey Berry (Inside Sales Mgr.) and gave him my credit card info. The bar will ship within 3 weeks.

If you have had a bar "on order" for months, call Joey now with payment info., or call whatever Progress vendor you have had contact with. Don't erxpect him or his staff to remember to call you for the info. Other Progress dealers are now advertising this product-- if you wait too long to get an official order placed, you will be SOL- they will sell out quickly and you'll have to wait for tne next production run.

The press-release for the bar and their springs is now up on Progress' website...

The Progress Group - PR - 2009+ Honda Fit Suspension Components

I'm still curious as to how this rear sway bar, which is 19mm, will work as a supplementary bar on the Fit Sport, which already has a 17mm rear sway bar (integrated into the rear suspension). It seems odd to me that this is intended for both the base Fit (no rear sway bar) and the Fit Sport (17mm). Too much stiffness in the rear is bound to change handling character significantly... and I'm not sure if it'll be entirely for the better. Comments?

Cheers,

Baz

Ummm, I'm a fan of Ultra Racing and I'm very pleased with my lower-arm bar from Ultra, but the specs on the UltraRacingUSA site indicate that their rear sway (anti-roll) bar is a 16mm bar, similar to what CUSCO offers.

Fit/Jazz GE8 Chassis Braces (Ignore the "2008", Ultra's site refers to the first model year the GE8 was out in Asia.)

I'd say that the jury is still very much out on whether 19mm will be an improvement or throw off the understeer/oversteer balance of the stock setup. I'm looking forward to hearing the first reports on the Progress RSB...

Cheers,

Baz

According to the Assaultech website it is supposed to be 22mm. Maybe that's just cut and pasted from the GD specs? Hmmm...

bigger is not necessarily better. The stiffer the springs you run, the less of a factor the sway bar will play (and the more likely you are to benifit from a smaller bar, at least as far as my experience goes). And most of it is subjective, how do you want the car to respond/behave? its just a personal preference, do you want to three wheel around corners or sit flat, depending on your driving style you might get faster times one way or the other.... also very curious for impressions, especially from people that are coming from a different aftermarket bar.

On my other car, I went through 4 different sized rear bars (from 16 to a massive 24 hollow) and 2 fronts before I found a combination that I was pleased with (before switching to springs that negated their use entirely).

As of this moment I don't think Progress has it out yet, from what I have read about the Assaultech group buy for the bars. I am tempted to try out the 16mm UR RSB just to see if I like it better than their 19mm. The 16mm was designed for the US market, but both can be ordered.

I recently read a first hand review of the Prgress RSB. Take a look at these posts:

Review of the Progress Rear Swaybar for the '09 Fit
The Install of the RSB, with pictures

To my knowledge, this was their first production RSB shipped to the general public.

Just to throw my 2 cents in regarding the bar, IMO it's one of the best upgrades for the money, even more so if you're not worried about aesthetics.
