Best Adjustable Coilovers

Was wondering, what are the best -- not necessarily the most expensive, please -- adjustable coilovers for what I want to do?

I was going to get lowering springs. Now, I'm thinking maybe I want more versatility... some adjustment. I don't like how the GE8 seems to naturally look higher in the front than in the rear. Even with some lowering springs the GE8 still looks a little lower in the rear. I'd rather have mine lowered more in the front than in the rear, if it has to be one or the other.

I've also noticed while checking around, most lowering springs for the Fit (GE8) seem to actually lower more in the rear than the front. What's up with that?

So, what adjustable coilovers are good, will give me a better ride than stock (or at least as good), but won't break my wallet in the process? Cheap ones could work, maybe... if they ride at least as good as stock. Still, I don't want something that may crap out on me within a couple of years.

Thanks for the input!

A lot of car front fender arches are raised higher making it look uneven, but in actuality the car is leveled. Late 90's Corollas is a perfect example. I've gone through two different springs and eventually went for coilovers.

the new d2 coilovers for 810 bucks blow any coilover out of the water.

I am wary of getting cheap Taiwanese coilovers. My previous setup was KSport (same company as D2) and two of my dampers blew within two years.

are you looking for only height adjustability or dampening and height?

I don't know... like I said, I'm fairly new at this. I want to be able to adjust/tweak the drop, front and rear, and I want them to ride at least as good as a stock GE8 rides... AT LEAST as good!

Thanks

How's the quality and more important, the ride on Progress? I don't want to sacrifice ride quality just for the sake of drop. Like I said, the ride has to be at least as good as a stock GE8.

Thanks

well if u want a ride as good as a stock GE8, you should probably stick to stock... there are going to be some sacrifices in comfort due to increase in spring rates for lowering springs...

and there are some coilovers that can be soft, but for most, comfort is compromised depending on how hardcore of a coilover u get

if you just want height adj, with stock comfor, and you're willing to spend some extra $$, you can get GC coilovers with low spring rates... rates equal/close to the stock spring rates... you just have to find out what the stock spring rates are, the customer service at GC is great, they'll help you with whatever you need.

well if the op lowers his car and the spring rates are close to stock he'll run into rubbing issues no? i think like 1.5" of drop in the front with close to stock rates will rub on harsh dips and bumps.

i would suggest swift springs. as they will be close to stock ride and will not sacrifice performance. the drop is not all that low though. i think its 1.2 in front and 1.0 in rear.

true... thats why they raise the rates in lowering springs... which compromises the comfort, imo...

annunc8... u keep asking how the ride is in each... the real question you have to ask yourself is, whats more important to you? ride as in comfort, or ride as in performance?

You can try the (I think) new Megan Coils. I'd be getting these soon
Megan Racing

Or try getting Function/Form Coils. These would be my best bet

for camber adjustment, you'd have to get camber bolts.

as for just height adjustment that's comfortable, i'd look into tein basics if you're on a budget, otherwise, HKS.

The GE8 Fits have a mcpherson strut assembly in the front, making camber adjustment impossible without using eith some form of eccentric bolts or having camber plates fabbed up to go with a coilover setup to replace your upper shock mounts you would normally use.

As far as the rear goes, I don't see how you could adjust the camber in any way short of someone producing a complete axle/beam assembly with camber built in, but that would be serious $$$ and pretty much pointless to make.

d2's have elongated holes on the bottom of the strut for camber. also they have a ajustable sway bar end link collars.

not for the ge8 or gd's you have to use the whole top upper assy with the coilover. camber is ajusted on the bottom. this with be the same for all ge8 coilovers that i know of.
