Solid motor mount review
3 Attachment(s)
Hey guys just went tonight and had a local shop fab up and install a solid motor mount for the rear. The motor mounts on the sides are great as they are but I felt like we needed a little more rigidity out of the fit! below is a stock motor mount and the new one
Attachment 34437 new one side by side with the stock one Attachment 34438 Big difference! Now this is the prototype of the mount and the shop is willing to put this into production after some more testing and my review. i will say first off that i love this, absolutely love the shift response, no wheel hop, and no more sloppy downshifts. very stiff and that's the way i like it. makes driving more enjoyable, now there is alot more vibration. Remember when removing all the rubber and making it solid the motor doesn't have anywhere to move front to back. The stock motor mount is ment for comfort this is ment for feeling the road and reducing wheel hop. Noise in cabin does increase a little but I have no resonator so mine is an extreme case. When slamming through the gears the car doesn't lurch anymore, no dip on the front in between gears. Wheels feel more planted and stable. super easy install, maybe 30 minutes at the most, fitment is perfect and uses all stock parts aside from stock mount. I drive about 70 miles a day to and from work so I will have more info tmw, just my initial thoughts... Love it! any questions let me know and if your interested leave a comment below and maybe we can get a group buy going:wavey: installed Attachment 34439 My Mods tein s techs progress rsb full exhaust mugen ss circuit hero extender with mugen knob Just Arrived apexi coilovers kmr chassis braces |
I'll be tuning in for your long term assessment.... I seriously need to do something to stop my engine from wallowing around all of the time.

Are your observations on a MT or AT Fit? Do you think the difference in feel would apply to both?
If you need another test car, let me know. I'm not far. I have an AT Fit. :) |
Hahaha indie maybe and mine is a manual. Will see gains in both manual and auto. Should be the same mount. The more locals interested the better. Ill pm you my info and well talk:) need someone else to review too.. and anyone let me know if they would be interested in a rigid mount or maybe a little softer to retain a little stock comfort?? Thanks guys.

Sounds good to me. Of course, by the looks of my upgrade/mod list, you know I'll try just about anything new on my Fit! LOL
|
nice work...

im in for interest.
|
would love to see how it works for AT
|
Maybe you guys would be interested in seeing how well it will stand up to a supercharged engine. Don't you think that would be a good selling point for someone that is concerned about the durability of a new product with limited testing?

Down for interest.
Question though, the new one seems... skinny compared the original. It just doesnt look like it would be that strong. Just an immediate observation by someone who really doesnt know lol. Feel free to educate me |
the stock one is made out of plastic so anything is better, and im going back to the shop on tuesday to install my coils so we should have a few more made and i think were going to try another design too. i will talk to him about making some more and im thinking were going to do a gb soon so if anyone really wants one let me know:) post up in the thread. i need a local with a gd to get on this too, i will call the dealership and see if the part numbers are the same then we can make one for the gd too

Here for interest

Nice!
How about making a polyurethane mount version on both ends? This probably would reduce some of the noise and vibration. |
^ that... not to mention lower durometer poly would help that as well...
|
In for interest. Would have to be walked through the install though as other than very simple stuff I'm a total mechanical newb. Never modded a car before (at all).
|
Although I'm not even remotely local, I'm competent with tools and for the right price I'd try it out.
|
I should've had mine by now what's uP man u slacking son!
|
not to be negative, cause i love the concept, but i give it two months and you're re-welding it, it goesnt look like it can hold the stress it will endure on the solid side.
i'm interested if it can hold up for a few months, i'll eat a crow sandwitch, i do want to know what kinda driving you are doing/planning, as i plan on tracking my 2010 a lot this summer, on a real track with pretty high speeds and rumble strips - i have a MT too and will be watching this thread |
^i think he said stock is plastic, should be fine?? not much tq anyways :(
