i just got back from an alignment and was quoted $170+ to fix my rear toe. My car is lowered(t1r s-coils) and i was wondering how much it should cost and if the amount of toe i have is that significant.

Rear : left
0.34

Rear : right
0.30

Total toe : 0.64

Unfortunately, the shop is lying to you, or doesn't know that the rear of the GE8's cannot be adjusted for toe, or camber. Only on GD's can the rear suspension be adjusted with shims. On the GE8, the hubs are welded on...no place for adjustement. Lowering the car didn't effect the alignment on the rear, as it is a twist beam axle, not independent.

At this point, beyond major cutting and welding, or ordering a JDM axle from Japan for $$$$, most GE8 owners, including myself, are just stuck with it. Rotate your tires often!

Alright, thanks for the explanation. Still pretty pissed that i got charged way too much $50 + $20 for my car being lowered(wtf). This was at an American Tire Depot fyi guys.

 

dude they're totally taking advantage of you, what the hell is a $20 charge for car being lowered? never heard of anything like it

 

the only difference it makes to them that your car is lowered is getting it up and down the ramps.

 

i know lesson learned. Just a heads up, don't go to an American Tire Depot.

Since it can't be done that would be interesting. Got an investigative news unit or a good State Attorney General Office near you who looks for fraud?

I don't mean to bring this thread back from the dead but my rear toe is out. My total toe is .52 where the spec is .47. You think this would work on my ge8?

 

Rear toe can't be adjusted on the GE8, the hub is welded, not bolted, so you can't use shims.

I wouldn't worry about .05 degrees out of spec too much.

 

I know this is an old thread, but the more I read about lowering the GE I'm starting to realize that it wont be worth it if we cant adjust camber or toe. Unless tire wear is not an issue for our cars? I'm planning on getting the Tein basis coilover kit and keep the stock rims and eventually put on some 17 with tires that give the same stock diameter. I want to daily the car with no wheel/fender gap and not worry about worn tires.

 

You'll be fine, don't worry about it. You probably have rear toe-out right now as we speak, it's a factory feature of the Honda Fit . You don't need to worry about camber at all, you won't gain any significant camber due to suspension design.

 

It's just the way the GE is. Your toe shouldn't change from where Honda welded it.

I actually prefer some toe out in the rear... assists with oversteer when paired with the right tire compound/PSI, rear suspension stiffness and a front weight transfer before cornering
