2009 sport - stiffen rear suspension

I love my 2009 fit. One of the best practical features is the incredible amount of room in the back with the seats folded flat. I swear I can haul as much as I can in my small pickup.... only problem is the suspension is way too soft to hold any weight. When loaded with 300lbs or so....the front wheels point outwards making is squirly... the back also toes inward when under load.... solutions....

I have read the threads about putting monroe air shocks in the earlier model fit. yet no one has tried something like that on an 09 or later?

all the kits I see out there are for lowering the car......

I live in montana...everything is very spread out so using a high MPG car is the only way to go....until you hit the gravel roads with 14 inches of snow on them... which is the majority of them out here. But to get to customers houses to fix computers ... so lowering is way out of the question. If I could stiffen it up a bit with out ruining the car I would be in heaven. Any thoughts?

In stead of turning it into a lowered city street racer....I need to turn it into a rally car. Any takers? ha

Well, I am sure if you get a hold of a company like Primitive they could probably find a way to get the car a stiffer stock height or higher suspension. You could be the guinea pig for the air shocks too.

Air shocks, coilovers, or air suspension set at stock height.

Air shocks probably the cheapest. The rear shock design is pretty basic so it shouldn't be too hard finding something. I dunno, maybe the shocks they found to use for the GD fit the GE?

Coilovers would work too.

Air suspension too expensive/ PITA install, too much hardware for something like this.

There are spring inserts out there. Hard rubber that goes between the coils of the rear springs to stiffen them up. Kind of a stock car approach.

That might work for you.

Other approach would be to pull one of the rear springs and see if a stiffer racing spring might be available. (Many springs are dimensionally standardized).

Possibly (and I don't know)--rear springs from another current heavier Honda might work. Insight?????
