To chime in a bit here, you really can't say stay away from Brand X because the OEM tires stink. Dunlop has had a good reputation over the years and has had/does have some good tires. The same goes for BFG. Conversely, some of the tires popular right now like Continentals have been decidedly average over the years.

Stock tires in general are crippled by attemptinmg to be the jack of all trades: acceptable in wet and dry, decent gas mileage, acceptably long tread life, hopefully quiet and not too harsh riding, and above all, inexpensive for the manufacturer to buy by the thousands. The beauty of buying your own tires is you get to choose the factors that are important to you, including spending more money to get a better all around tire or a great tire if you narrow your focus.

I didn't care for them at first. Once broken-in I like them. Based on what I see in 9kmiles I'll get 35kmiles on the 2010 Sport Dunlops. Will try taking them through an up-state NY winter. Will get a higher wear rated re-placement in spring or summer.

Honda needs to stop buying from Dunlop. I'm at 23k miles and my stock tires that have always been properly inflated and rotated have endured two flats (overnight droopers) and technically are no longer legal due to lack of tread depth.

New tires on order this friday, YAY

There is one tire from BFG I would buy, the all terrain AT K/O, but that's a truck tire.

Im new to the Fit community, with only about 1000 miles on my Fit sport, and I will certainly agree that these Dunlops are without a doubt the worst stockers I have ever had. I already have gotten a ruined tire from a piece of mulch in my driveway lol! Im not talking a chunk of wood, I mean like a little flake, about the size of a quarter that went through the corner of the tire!

i havent experienced the problem posted at the start of the thread. You asked.
my experience is they last nearly 40,000 miles. I learned that the original dunlap tires are gas milage tires.... low rolling resistance. They sure dont look like hyway tires or rain tires...
I like to replace them with something comprable. Perhaps Faulkin tire will have something

Good call, I run them on my dually cube van. Quiet, good handling, long lived and the traction of a tank.

I am on the verge of purchasing a new '10 Fit Sport, the tires being a stumbling block as they really do SUCK. The dealer doesn't want to pull them and exchange for another tire as they can't be sold as new since the car rolls around on the lot on them.

Does Michelin make an all season in that size?

Maybe it's because they are new, but so far I have found the stock Dunlop 7000s to be completely acceptable and better than average. I only have about 1200 miles on them FWIW.

I have already run them in more than one snow event (5 inches max) and they have performed very well there too.

This coming from a guy who ran almost every make of performance tire during ten years of Golf GTi ownership, including five years of autocross.

One doesn't mean all. I loved my BFGs on my Mustang. 265/35-18 and 295/35-18 with 500+hp.

25,835 miles, 2 are wasted completely, 2 are at about 10% left! sidewalls looked dry rotted and cracking at only 10k! definitely not the dunlop im used too! And the fact they (dunlop) nor my ahole dealer would offer any assistance in the matter, nor a suitable explanation (excuse)! i think it sucks!

i rode on my dunlop sport fm901 series on my s13 240sx for 3yrs!!! and even did some drifting now and then!

My favorite tire was the Excentia GTH, but they've been replaced by the Traction T/A I believe, which I haven't seen problems with either.

I don't have a lot of experience with track-ready tires, but BFG touring tires and truck tires are about as good as it gets considering cost IMO.
