Heel/Toe Wear Already?

My stock base '10 AT has 4,400 miles on it. It is still wearing its stock Dunlops.

I am getting weird heel/toe wear on the tires already. You know, where it feels sort of ridged when you run your hand over the tire toward the front of the car but almost like cheese-grater rough when you rub backward.

I have rotated the tires on all of my cars at 5k intervals.

What in the heck is going on here? The car still feels to be in alignment and I've never hit one of the oh-jeebus-size potholes around here.

In my old car, the Volvo, when this started happening it was due to aging suspension components but I cannot imagine mine is damaged already?

Anyone else experiencing this?

Get your wheels balanced.

You need to get an alignment and have your wheels balanced and rotated.

And...just fyi. It's just called toe wear, not heel/toe...that's a shifting technique.

Hope you get it fixed.

Lol. I was thinking the same thing. I thought this thread was about pedal wear/ carpet wear due to heel toe downshifting.

The wear that was described is what was referred to as peaking and is common on the front wheels of motorcycles ridden at high speeds while out of balance... I have no idea about what anything is called anymore there are so many new terminologies that meant something entirely different or just didn't exist a few years back and will mean something entirely different in the near future.

the alignment could "feel" fine and not be...

if your tires are exhibiting signs of excessive toe in/out wear, then you should get an alignment asap... incorrect toe will kill tires VERY quickly...

Alignment/rotation like said above. Certainly not to ever be expected. I would be interested in seeing a pic or two.

It doesn't work for me either in a Fit but I never had a problem tap dancing on the pedals of British sports cars.

Size 13 here as well.... I fit much better in Swedish and German cars than Japanese or Italian.. The British haven't built a car that would interest me in over 40 years if you don't include a Lotus. I could heel/toe in Austin Healey roadsters like crazy if I was bare footed or wearing deck shoes or loafers.
