ok here is what I dont get about +40 offset and lower

a good handful of people here are dropped and running +40 or even lower +20 etc. offsets and claim to have no rubbing or only slight if the turn is taken to fast etc. some even say fully loaded no rub only on HUGE bumps

yet when everyone asks, 90% will say YES YOULL RUB!!!!

where the people running low offsets and dropped, cars made in some secret factory, are they super skinny like 90lbs and thats why they dont rub lol

does it matter what plant in japan our cars were made?

I just dont understand shouldnt it be yes it will or no it wont?

it just seems like try it and maybe youll get lucky lol

it just makes no sense to me

the meaning behind this rant is i just picked up 16"x7" +40 wheels and they are going on the stock 185 tires

heres what i plan to do, full test stock and then full test drop all the ins and outs, big bumps, undone roads, sharp turns, u turns, etc.

then hopefully we can settle this all once and for all lol

Please do that...

And also--when you get new tires, get 205/50's and that will solve a LOT of issues around here.

I researched for MONTHS and couldn't get any real solid answers on what I wanted.
As a result...I got 16x7 +45mm with my 205/50's and on Swift Springs...I DO NOT rub.

I'm not sure about any other offsets but I would LOVE to know.

dont listen to people on the internet.. bunch of ethugs trying to make your life horrible for choosing the wheel you want.

if you like it, go for it. you wont have SUPER rubbing unless you got some 17x10 wheels -.- if rubbing occurs, you can always do some fender mods or get a diff tire size

ask professional tire people! dont go off everyone's quick opinion...

i run +38 offset and dont rub 15x6.5 195/55

Yeah, but GD's and GE's have different rubbing issues as I have found through my research.

I am running the same offset/tire size on a gd3 and absolutely no rubbing. I have been considering spacers on the rear, the front looks reasonably flush to me at least but the rear needs some work.

I have the exact same sizes and after installing J's showa I have front rubbing issues on bumps and hard cornering.
Thinkin' of going back to the stock wheels to see if it makes a difference.

I'm lowered on Sportlines...so I'm currently running 17x7 w/ 40 offset. Tires are 205/40/17 and I only rubbed once when I had over 135kg of weight in the back.

Previous rims and tires:
15x6.5 38 offset 205/55/15 tires absolutely no rubbing
15x6.5 45 offset 205/50/15 tires absolutely no rubbing
15x6.5 38 offset 205/60/15 rubbed very badly. Torn my liners to shreds!

I'm not sure why the all the variances but maybe it's because I drive my car on all kinds of roads loaded and empty and maybe some people here don't. Hope that helps.

It all depends on the width of the wheel, the tire size, and what fender work has been done.

Im was running 15x7 +13 and a 195/40 Yokohama S Drives. Very minimal rubbing only on big bumps.

Current wheel setup I rub with passengers in the back on every little bump/turns. But whatcha going to do...complain or just live with it. being pretty isnt easy =D

Your mileage may vary. That said, +45 offset seems idiot-proof.

And before people lambaste me for posting here: For a GE, 17x7 +43 won't rub. Tried and tested on EK3 Ferio's GE6. The wheels in question were RAYS Gram Lights G07WTs.

^ I don't quite remember the tire size, but 215/45 R17 seems close enough a recollection.

The brand/model tire you choose will also have a affect on if you rub. The different shapes can cause/eliminate rubbing
