Question Question about some possible cheap wheels

Ok well I just bought a brand new 2010 base model fit. I'm super short on cash because the overhead on my car i traded in was like 2 grand lol but I was wondering if anyone knew of some decent looking cheap wheels. I'm not buying them for anything performance wise just for looks. I got the storm silver body color. I was thinking either flat black gloss black bronze/gunmetal or red. Christmas is rolling around and i think i can get my parents to chip in a little cash on em but i need to find a set soon. i wanna keep the stock size wheels because there brand new tires. thanks for anyones opinion and help.

it really all depends on the size and offset. also if your going to lower it make sure you find out what offset you needcause if not then you can run into problems with fitment and rubbing well depends on how you go!

so you should be fine with the stock size and offset witch is 15x6.5 and i belive the ge8 are 55offset so anything from 35 to 55 in offset you should do fine with

Offset is the second most important thing (1st is the size of course) to consider when selecting an aftermarket wheel. Too high of an offset (0, +1, +2, and so on) the more sunk in the wheel will be in the wheel well; in contrast, too low of an offset, (0, -1, -2, so on) the more the wheel sticks out from the wheel well (see nxtfit_08's signature).

GE8's with the 16 inch Sport alloys have a +53 offset. In your application, it would be interesting to find a wheel that will allow your factory 175/65R15s to be mounted safely (without excessive tire stretching) as well as give you the look you want.

The problem is the 175/65R15 is recommended to be mounted on a wheel that is between 5 to 6 inches in width. A typical aftermarket wheel 15 inch wheel is 6.5 inches in width, I know its not much wider but just something to keep in mind for safety reasons.

In addition to that, finding a wheel that width with an offset that won't allow tire rub. The GE chassis is more sensitive to lower offsets than the older GD (without fender mods/rolling) especially when lowered. Depending on the tire you run can cause a non-rubbing set up to rub.

Theoretical example: A 175/65R15 on a 15x6 ET+38 shouldn't rub on a GE at stock hieght due to the tire being narrow enough to clear. Time passes, you need new tires and get 205/55R15s; same diameter roughly, just 30mm wider. Now you have a set up that will potentially rub due to the additional 15mm of tire.

In my honest opinion, I think you should consider 1 of 3 things.

1. Run the factory wheels and tires till the tires need to be replaced then get a set of wheels along with the tires.

2. Use this current setup as a winter wheel/tire setup and get another set of wheels and tires.

3. Find a set of OEM 15x5.5s or 15x6s with an offset between +42 and +53 such as the MINI R81 (or any 15 inch Cooper wheel), Acura's LS Mesh or Acura's GSR Blade on a forum, craigslist, etc.

Hope any of this helps.

Rota Circuit 10 Wheels are available in 15x6.5 with a 45mm offset for about $450 shipped. They can be had in 15 color combinations. You won't rub with this setup, even if you go with 205/50/15 tires later:

Buy Rota Rims, Rota JMAG rims, Muteki Lug Nuts: JLB Motorsports

But I wouldn't get wheels until I could afford tires as well, because your stock size tire isn't recommended for a wheel wider than 6", as stated above. Maybe you could swap or sell your tires to someone?

(edit) I just checked and Discount Tire has 2 alloy wheels in 15x6 - even though they show 5-lug wheels, they are listed as being available in a 4-lug design, with a 43mm offset - should be within spec for a Fit. $104ea plus shipping:

I paid $100 a rim for my Konig Forwards, check out www.tires.com for what they've got. Also, IMO, the stock sport wheels are nice, light, strong and available here. You'll probably get the tires on them as well

IMO 15's look great on the GD but not the GE, so I'd look for 16's, even if you do plan on lowering the car or not. Did you check out www.tires.com to see what they've got, like I said, mine were $100 a rim, I haggled on the price a bit too but then again, I've sent this guy 6 customers already, so he made up his money already

He wants to use his stock tires for the time being, and has limited funds. That's why no 16's...

How about $216.99 a set of 4?:

Universal Option Racing Feather Series 5 Spoke Wheel Rim Set of 4 by Option Racing

here's more info, and a 6-spoke model, and they are available in 45mm offset to keep from rubbing:

Option Racing Feather Series Light Weight Rims|Performance Rims|Light Weight Wheels

They mention a weight of 13.5lbs, which is nice and light. Don't know how good they are, but if you're not racing they should hold up fine!

ha i thank you my friend i knew i seen em cheaper somewhere that would be why cuz they want more for the 6 spoke (510$ not including shipping). i like the 6 spoke better but hell for some cheap wheels ill deal with the 5 spoke until i can afford some 16 inch rota or track lites with some tires. do i need to get the ones with the 45 offset or the 40. the :
DI5 5 Spoke Lip ET:45 PCD:4 x 100 CB:56.1 ; Black & Red [77-99113]
i kind of understand the offset but not exactly. all i know is the 15x6 will fit my stock tires and they have the style im looking for. I dont ever plan on lowering this thing so whatever fits best.

45mm is the best way to go, you wouldn't be likely to rub with 40mm on stock tires, but if you ever put wider ones on all bets are off! 45mm with 205/50/15 or 205/55/15 tires would fit on your wheels and not rub.
I also like the 6-spoke a bit better, and you can get them for $399.99 at the other link. That's still a lot more than $216.99, though!
