Question Another what wheel offset/disk thread (on Swift springs)

Decided on going with Swift springs on my GE8 since the roads here are toooo rough for any serious DD drop for me.

Need help narrowing down the closest offset to stock, my options are 16 x 6.5 which I can get up to +50, or 17 x 7.5 (can get up to +56). I might be able to get 17 x 7, which is what I'd rather. What would be the closest offsets?

I don't care about flush/poke, etc, etc, etc, just looking stay close to stock specs.

Also I know I've read it here before, but I can't find the thread(s) which disk, A, or O? or W?

I am running swifts with 16x7 +45 on 205/50/16s. No rubbing. Looks and handles great.

I know a lot of people are running +45 with 16x7 (practically read every wheel thread on here... )
But I'm trying to stay close to stock (if I'm not mistaken the sport alloys are +55), and since I'm still able to get these high offsets to match.

Also what's the deal with the disk type?

Might go with these instead depending on weight ---> http://www.workwheelsusa.com/media/w...0DH%20Spec.pdf

I remember reading a few threads about disk type on here and other forums, but can't remember specifically if the standard A/W disk will work with a BBK like Spoon or ITR calipers especially on the DH Mighty version.

Any suggestions, opinions or advice is welcomed.

Can you explain why it's so important for you to stay close to stock specs?

Nope, I still don't get it. Best thing I can think of is alternate name for "spoke design."

As for your "less problems," if you keep the offset, you need to be careful of the width. Just as getting too low an offset will potentially rub the fender and liner (outside of tire), too wide a wheel plus high offset will rub the suspension parts (inside of tire).

Of the specs you listed up top, the 16x6.5 +50 is probably the least likely to rub on the inside. And I would recommend no wider than 195 tires.

16x6.5 +50 Eurolines will look lame. You'll have ZERO lip.

I remember reading about the disk types on here, but can't find the thread(s).

As for off set, trying to figure out the closest when increasing the wheel width to 6.5 or 7.

Mike, what offset or size would you recommend on the GE8? Might have to have you do a search for me, since these are now discontinued.

I guess I don't really mind the no lip, the reason I'm getting these Eurolines, is cause I always liked the look of the wheels my old Audi turbo.

Almost got a set of similiar looking MB styling Lorinser's (I think D-93) for it, but the damn car kept breaking down. Good thing I didn't.

So, by disc you mean like nearly full flat face wheels?

You could get the Canadian wheels... I think the LX model has "pizza cutter" wheels.

Civic HF also has "disc" wheels.

Yes, because what someone thinks looks LAME is something we all want to avoid, right? So, my thinking the Base "looks LAME" means you should've gotten a Sport, right?

Good Grief Charlie Brown!

If he likes it, well, he likes it... why do people think their aesthetic opinions should matter so much to others?

*incidentally, I don't think the base looks lame, I just prefer the Sport. I neither like, nor dislike disc wheels.

With that post your desires make a lot more sense to me, and I'm with Brthnezr when it comes to sizing, as a GD owner I'm inclined to trust GE people when it comes to the sizing.

What's wrong with the out dated Audi rims?
Yeah I like the pie cutter design on the Canadian GE8 LX models. The only thing holding me back from trying to get them full force is that they are 15". I'd rather stay with 16, but might take a trip to Canada if I change my mind.

The Civic hybrid does also have them, and they're 16's but they're 5x100. I don't think they make them in the NA market in 16 w/ 4x100.

Disk does mean the actual face, but depending on that if I'm not mistaken it does play a role with inner clearance (of calipers), hence the Big Caliper Disk (R Disk) ---> http://workwheelsusa.com/media/wheel...hty%20Spec.pdf

Looks like if this does go thru I will be going with the 16's since they weigh almost the same as stock (don't want heavier, but they don't make them lighter). Just got to see which finish, and narrow down the offset? Any more suggestions?

How about finish type, on a CBP Fit?
Full out chrome?

Silver polish?

or Black?

Anyone want to photoshop these on a black GE8?

Silver polish or chrome. No black.

Too bad they don't make them in Bronze or gold with polish lip. You could always get the silver, dissasemble and powdercoat. Are they 2 piece? I assume yes since they're not knockoffs.

Thumbs up

Have to agree with both of you. I think the chrome would fit much with the other mods. My gf thinks its too flashy (kinda agree), didn't want to stand out too much, but with the other chrome accents it's a better choice. Also like the silver polish their less "in your face", if I don't clean the chrome one's they almost look like silver polish.

Rice or not.. Still like to hear others opinions and get a different perspective. Thanks all.

Any other suggestions/opinions?

Yah 2 pc. Can't stand knock offs.

Looks like I'm going to stick with 16 x 6.5" +50 (unless I can get the +49 as it's the same inner clearance, the +50 inner clearance is reduced by 1mm). Also the +49 extends towards the fender by 12mm, and the +50 11mm.
Gotta wait now on pricing, finish availability, etc, etc.

Also for disk types (from another forum)
I believe it has to do with the curvature of the spokes and how much lip you get with the 3 different types...

O = least curve spokes
A = (standard) more curved spokes
R = most curve (most ideal for BBK's)

Btw, "O", "A", and "R" are the 3 disc type descriptions used by Work wheels....Volk, for instance, uses "High", "mid", and "low".

I wish!!! That was my first choice size, but being as these wheels are discontinued as of Jan 1, 2012, I can only get 17x7, and those (17's) are several lbs. heavier than stock. The 16's are about the same weight give or take a few ounces.

Yes, but 17's will look better, and those wheels are about looks, not function. If you put bubbly tires on 16s they'll look funny with those wheels, and if you put lower profile tires on 16's there's going to be too much wheel gap and it'll look funny (with Swifts, coilover would be OK).

Get 17x7, lower profile tires and Swifts. It'll be classy. After all, that's what Eurolines are for.

If you want performance/weight savings, etc, look at a different style.
