Stretching Tires/Offset/Wide wheels
I have some things I want to get out in the open so some of the experienced members on the board can help me out.
I'm noticing that a lot of guys run higher offset wheels (40-50) with a 7 inch wide wheel and 205 or 215 tires. Then, some guys will say they stretch their tires and put a 195 on a 7, but I don't see any stretch. This is the 215/35/18 on my 18x9 I daily'd, and this is just what I viewed as a mild stretch. https://sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...77427131_n.jpghttps://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...87835206_n.jpg and you can really see the stretch in this head on shot http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8024/7...da9d6e49_c.jpg So my question is, why wouldn't we be able to run a 8 or 9 inch wide wheel with a lower offset if we stretched the tires like my above picture? Everyone seems to be so conservative with their offsets, so I'm trying to get a feel for the guys with wide wheels. |

Because not many Fit people are into stance.
The only issue I see is having camber in the rear, but with proper specs it won't look retarded. The most aggressive I've seen is a black Fit from Hawaii, although I can't find the pictures I had of it right now. Other than that... 17x8 et30 wrapped in 205/40's http://farm9.staticflickr.com/8151/7...a3975657_o.jpg http://blog.beangarage.com/wp-conten...cfb63af1_b.jpg http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6098/6...3b269b86_b.jpg http://i193.photobucket.com/albums/z...714resized.jpg 16x8 et38 wrapped in 205/40s (what I plan on running) Attachment 24559 Attachment 24560 16x8 et20 wrapped in 205/40s http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7124/7...4b3b32edec.jpg You can't get too aggressive with the Fit. As you can see, 16x8 +20 is already flush. |
As FittedOnEm stated, different strokes for different folks
|
I saw the 17x8 +30 a while back and I like it a lot, but I'm not sure if 17s are gonna be too big.
But most aggressive guys on here run 16x8 et30ish I take it then? Any more info on the blue raspberry with 16x8 et20? I think that looks pretty nice.

There's a few threads dedicated to low offset rims on our cars. Entire websites on stretching tires. Answer, you are able to and as for not many fits into stance or hellaflush well that sounds silly.

It's a crazy world. |

https://www.fitfreak.net/forums/2nd-...et-w-pics.html I haven't really seen anyone go further than an 8. The blue raspberry is the first one I've seen that has gone low enough to pull off the +20. More of the 16x8 +38, since I love how it sits: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7057/7...6411c68a_z.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5345/6...6099f1ed_z.jpg http://farm6.staticflickr.com/5454/7...76106d32_z.jpg (Same RPF1's as on the black one, just new owner)

Because some people are more interested in getting the widest tire possible under the fender than stance/stretch/poke.

It's a crazy world. I tracked that BMW with 350hp and stretched tires and I still felt I was going too slow, haha.

am I the only one who thinks a 205 on an 8j isnt even really a stretch? 205 treadwidth is over 8" (barely, but still over)
I run a 185 on all of my 8j wheels. I'm picking up a set of 8j/9j stagger soon and plan on running the same 185's on both of them. not a fit, but whatever. 185/60r14 on 14x8 https://sphotos-b.xx.fbcdn.net/hphot...48426488_n.jpg |
You don't see anyone that low? Look up member Raaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyy. Your BMW isn't even low you joker; from the looks of it my foot could easily fit beneath the bumper.

Rented a fender roller from TRU motorsports. $40. You can't tell it's been done really unless you compare to a stock one side by side

http://img256.imageshack.us/img256/870/dsc1770.jpg And thank you for posting a kinda low car. I'm glad I discovered who the forum hater is who doesn't even have a nice car himself to back up any talk. |
OMG your oil pan has 1"+ of clearance? tell us more! You've accomplished so much.
Its so difficult to lower a car. Wait. No. Its far from it. BTW, you suck at cars. Don't come at me bro. http://a6.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot..._6293259_n.jpg |

I missed when my car looked like this. It was so functional then. It's not difficult to lower a car, but to achieve proper fitment, it takes time. I'm bad at cars? Styling on some 5′s « Versiontwo Laboratory Hahahaha. You are now my favorite member on this board. Can you post any high res shots of your car? I'm interested to see what you drive! |
U know what's sad? The sarcasm that people have with one another when the forums are ment to share and learn on certain subjects about unknown parts of the car build but yet smart asses come on and waste time! If u are that great then Why are u here ? general discussions dont need smart asses! But back to the discussion!

I just wanted to see what offsets people have been running and the luck they have had with pulling fenders and stretching tires. I assumed with a thread title like this, fitment fans would be jumping on this thread posting up THEIR OWN cars with the details instead of talking tough about everyone elses cars. I've been a great member on many forums (DSMTuners to VWVortex to E90Post) but I just can't stand guys who brag about others cars when someone says something. All my friends probably have the nicest, lowest, cleanest VWs in the Northeast, but I have never posted their cars once when someone was talking about stance/fitment/low. |
Joined 2 months ago, less than 30 posts, hasn't seen low Fits, probably didn't use the search function to find low Fits, he and his friends are God's gift to the "stance" world...
Go back under your bridge, troll |
You are a probationary member with 8 Tech posts on DSMTuners... 280awhp on a mustang dyno with a 16G @ 20psi seems a little low. Got a log?

The car had 33k original miles on it, so I was in no rush to blow it up (until my father totaled it.... :()

Go back under your bridge, troll 30 posts seems like a lot, there is nothing to talk about on here and it's not a very active board. Search function? I know how to find picture threads, and I just wasn't impressed, I'm sorry. Fit's can even run 14 and 15 inch wheels! There is no excuse not to find a ton of crushingly low cars. Hahaha. God's gift? That is the worst use of that. But I'll post a picture so you guys understand where my standards are at so you can stop acting like I should be impressed at all the cars on here: My buddy Pat's car http://farm8.static.flickr.com/7128/...ea47318a_b.jpg My buddy Mat's car (he lives right by me even, love looking at this car) http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphot...40218050_o.jpg http://img.tapatalk.com/aeff43db-2de1-c6b6.jpg |
Cool, two pics of completely average VW's. I'm so impressed by them >_>
And also, Style 5's are my least favorite BBS ever. You're not helping your cause. As for high res shots of my car? I don't have any. Its just like any other Fit currently in progress. |

I loved them and they were pretty low offset after adapters/ I build my cars for me and I happen to get enough buzz for a feature on one of the biggest car blogs in the world right now. So I must be bad at cars A lot of talk in this thread for actually having nothing to contribute to. If you don't have any experience with a low Fit with wide, low offset wheels and stretched tires, why did you even bother posting? I made this thread to gain some info, not to bicker with people over other people's cars. |
