Rota's & Philippines

So I'll be heading down to the Philippines in a couple of weeks, and i have been pondering what car parts I can buy and be real affordable. JDM parts prices are super inflated, so i figured i may be able to score a nice deal on some Rota wheels.

Now can anyone recommend a set of rotas that are:
1) 17 inch
2) relatively light weight to oem sport wheels (two must also weigh less than the 50 lb limit the airline set)
3) looks bad ass on my 2012 ASM fit.

I know people here look down upon Rotas, but i'm not looking into racing or autocrossing. Just some nice looks and good fuel economy. Don't got $$$ to spend on expensive wheels that would probably get stolen here in NJ.

Rotas don't seem like much of a deal even in their motherland from checking their eBay, CL type sites. Prices are about equal to here new vs used. Maybe that's not a fair place to check and "street price" is cheaper, idk?

I'd just go to Rota's website, they have all their wheels listed with pictures, etc. Seems not super worth it to get something from there that is readily available here at any brick and mortar tuner shop or delivered to your door with free shipping

If it were me i'd just pick up some JDM OEM taillights and stuff them in my carry-on or some other used not wanted OEM goodness that's hard to get here. I wish we got these wheels

Just try to track down jdm stuff from there. You can get Rotas in the US for a cheap price anyway, so save your allowed weight for something that is hard to get into the US.

If you're looking at Rota wheels, go on eBay and check out the seller "Aspecwheels". I've bought 3 sets off them already, their shipping is quick, prices are decent, and customer service is top notch.

I can't suggest any wheel style because I don't know what your taste in wheels is. Happy shopping kabayan!

Well I really want to shop around and see how much they cost. If we are talking 300ish for a set I may go pick some up.

Ive been shopping around for jdm stuff and theyvare more expensive there. Might as well go thru rakuten/tenso. Maybe next year ill go to japan. Wehehe.

I know what you mean. But I got a buddy look around for prices back there and they cost around 400-500 depending on the style/color plus shipping it here. But if you don't have anything to put in your 2 boxes, then I guess you can bring it back.

some popular choices of local fit guys:
1. svn (aka volk re30)
2. fighter (aka volk ce28)

most local guys also recommend +45 up offset, which limits the choices. +40s are much more common. a set of 4 rota 17s typically cost around P25k - P30k (~$680).

You might get lucky and find a good deal on a replica of a replica:

Sorry man, just figured if you're looking for wheels you might as well get the best deal possible while you're out there.

You figure Rota copied all the major companies such as Volk, Work etc and can sell there wheels at a fraction of the price, why not go with a copy of a copy and get them at a fraction of that price? Seems like a win if you ask me.

been seeing lots of replicas here lately, not just rotas. advan, bbs, volks of course. complete with markings, stickos and center caps lol! they say they usually come from thailand and taiwan. a set of 4 17s costs around P20k or $450. only time will tell if they're durable, but so far havent heard of any accidents related to them. of course, no one would dare run em in motorsports lol

There is nothing JDM about Rota. Rotas are cheaper because they use cheaper materials when making the wheels. Does that make them bad? not necessarily they are just not as good as the wheel they are copy could be. Know with that said do you really want to bey a replica of a replica of a wheel?

hey ryu, are you already here in PH? anyway, i think Rotas are almost priced identical here and there. Though there are some models that are only available here, and some models available there.

PM me if you think of anything you need/want. I might be able to help you where to get them the cheapest.
