Best price on Yokohama AVID Ascend Tires?
#21
Sorry to dredge up this thread, but for those still considering the Yokohama Avid Ascends, I just received an email from Tire Rack announcing a $60 rebate on Yokohama tires.
I'm still loving mine after 1.5 years and 22k miles. Great in rain, surprisingly good in snow, a bit quieter than the stock Bridgestones, and a slight but noticeable improvement in fuel economy. They're also wearing extremely well.

I have had the Yokohama Avid Ascend's on my fit for about three months- there has been a noticeable improvement in my mpg's. Very pleased

You can get these for $292 for 4 after mail in rebate and coupon code from discount tire direct through ebay. No tax for me. Of course you still have to pay to get them on the car.

That’s an excellent price. I’m still loving mine after about 2.5 years and 30k miles. They’re excellent in rain, good in snow, and my mileage continues to pleasantly surprise me, about 1.5 mpgs better than the Sumitomos I had before. My one reservation—I hesitate even to mention it—is that they might be a bit noisier than they were when they were new. It’s hard to say without an objective measure, but this summer I seemed to hear them more than I remember when they were first installed. Perhaps some of the others with high mileage on a set can weigh in with their thoughts on this.

Hey all,
I'm jumping on this thread as I need new tires. The two that seem to be the most commonly available around are:
- Michelin - Premier A/S
- Yokohama Avid Ascends
I can go to a local Costco and get a set of the Michelins (with all the fees) for $592.96 (with a $70 off coupon and plus a Costco membership fee which I probably won't use as I'm a single gal who lives alone but whatever)
My car is under warranty so I'm getting some maintenance done at the dealer anyway and asked about tires. The price for the Michelins was obscene but they did offer up the Yokohama's as a replacement for $486.
It seems a few of you like your Yokohamas and I wanted to know if they were a good alternative to the Michelins. I live in Seattle and so it's important that they handle wet weather well.
Thanks!
Dawn
