Exclamation How long did your factory tires last?

Hey everyone!

I bought my 2013 Honda Fit Sport in July of 2013 and I've put about 15, 500 miles on the stock factory tires. The suspension is stock and I do mostly city driving here in Southern California.

Right now after one tire rotation and two oil changes it looks like 2/4 of my tires need to be replaced based on their current tread wear.

Factory tires - Dunlop SP Sport 7000 A/S 185/55/16

What are your experiences with factory tires? Did you have the same ones as I did? How much life should I really be getting??

Thanks for your support and assistance!

30K on OEM Dunlops. Replace with Yokohama Avid Ascend tires for good mileage.

At 39k my OE Dunlop's appear to be good for another 10-12k.

I replaced mine at 42k, would've gone a bit longer but with winter on the horizon, I replaced them a bit early.

replaced at around 34 K - original Dunlops as well -they would have lasted a bit longer, but I wanted to take advantage of a sale at Discount Tire on the Yokahama Avid Ascends.

Replaced mine @ 20k. Bought the roadhazzard with loan & went in to get one replaced when a pothole took a chunk out of driver side front but they wouldn't replace stating too much wear. Dealer wanted $120 for the tire, $250 mount, $45 sensor & $100 alignment, $395 total. Got a set of 4 cooper zs5 205/50/16 with alignment mounted for $571. Made me realize how bad the dunlops were. I now have more grip (dry wet or snow) than the oem ever had. Quieter too.

OE Dunlops are still looking good at 21k. I expect to replace them next year after the first few snows, but if they're still looking good then, I'll hold till the next winter.

The fronts wear about twice as fast as the rears. so if the worn out ones are now on the back, they will stay at the same wear level for quite some time, especially if you keep the pressure properly inflated. The last bit of tire always seems to wear slower than the first bit.

I think you will be to squeeze out until next winter, then you should change for the weather.

They are relatively new, and you don't live in cold weather; so if money is an issue for you and you want to keep the stock tires, keep on rolling.

I personally put 30k on the OEM tires, but decided to change them out at perhaps 4/32s as they were 5years old, and half used were having poor performance during trips to tahoe in the cold weather on the slush/ice.

I am at less than 50% at 10k miles on mine and will probably get a new set of 205's to replace them after the first of the year since they are probably the worst tires I've ever had the displeasure of driving on.

Merry Christmas to you as well.

My OE Bridgestones lasted me about 25K miles before needing replacement. I'm now on 205 Hankook Ventus V2 Concepts at 60K miles (although I now swap for snows in the winter (about 1/4 of my driving)

I had great luck with stock dunlops on 2010 sport and 2012 sport. The 2010 still has original tires at 55+K miles and they have at least 40% of the treadwear left. On my 2012 which has 23K miles, the tires look new.
I drive easy and keeping the tires inflated helps.
You wear yours out too fast. Do you take corners fast? Start moving with throttle heavily pressed? Do you keep the pressure at the specified value? Is your car always loaded? Do you autocross it?

I got 34,000 out of the stock dunflops. Replaced with Yokohama S drives, upgraded to 205/50's. Got 40k out of those, now on Continental DW's.

I usually always mod the tires when the first tire change is due, however with the Dunlop Sports that come on the car from the factory I was blown away to get over 40K on them and then replaced them (and they were not even at 2/10 tire wear yet). I flat on one tire is what motivated me to replace all of them. On the BMWs I owned I was lucky if I got 30K out of the tires. More like 20K to 25K. But I'm a lead foot too when I had high performance BMWs. The engine screaming on the Fit just doesn't motivate me much to "nail it" from a complete stop.

Keep in mind OE tires are not meant to last long. When the bid is won on a tire it is usually design to get smooth, quiet, comfortable, safe riding with the best fuel efficiency. Long mileage wear is not on the list for most manufactures. Typically tires last about 3 years of driving which will depend the drivers style and conditions. So this could be around 30-40K.

About 5k before I got a nail in the sidewall and hated them so much I didn't bother replacing it (they were way expensive at the time, ~$140 for a crap tire no thanks). Sold the other three to an xB driver on CL.

That's so little.
Do you autocross?
I've gotten 55K miles on stock dunlops and there is still 40% left to go.

That's almost 80 000 kilometers. What eats your tires so quickly? Did you discard them before they were fully worn out? Do you rotate tires?
