Mine Lasted me 6 yrs, Miles are unknown but I'm guessing maybe 20,000 miles more or less roughly. I need new ones for next summer I was told they will not pass inspection next year and My current winters still have a whole lot of tread because I don't drive a whole ton during the winter at all. I probably will have to have them checked for dry rotting and what not after winter is over because they are also 6 yrs old too!

So I got 78 K miles out of OEM Dunlop SP7000.

Replaced them with Hankook Ventus2 (50$ a piece on Amazon).

Already put 50000 miles on the Hankooks and they seem to have over 60% thread depth left. They wear really evenly.
Great tires.

I lost 3 factory tires within the first year due to the low profile of the 2013 fit sport wheel and factory tire. This was done mostly on the BQE of NYC during the winter. I would replace them with the exact same tire because I was leasing my 2013. When I bought the car after the lease expired I replaced them with Hankooks. Does anyone know if the steel wheels on the stock 2013 Fit (non-Sport model) will fit the Sport model? I'd like to put them on with winter tires and use the low profiles in summer.
Thanks in advance,

Is it my imagination or have OEM tires just gotten better over the decades?

In the 90's I had some new vehicles that came with absolutely horrible tires. You weren't unjustified in replacing them directly after driving off the dealership lot. You were lucky to get a 12 to 16 months out of them.

The last 3 new vehicles I have been lucky enough to purchase, I have actually been pretty happy and surprised by the quality of the OEM tires from the factory
This upcoming Spring, I think I'll be replacing my tires. BUT..that will be approaching 4 years.
Which I'm actually pretty happy with.

Tires are high quality these days.
Many people abuse the tires, like driving over pot holes, braking too hard, taking turns too hard, running them with incorrect air pressure, not rotating them, ignoring alignments etc.

I just remember in the 90's, when I was young, but old enough to start buying my own 1st new vehicles, ( and I wasn't buying luxury vehicles ) just the common thought/conversation was that the "new" OEM tires were never going to be very good. They were just built to be good enough to get the vehicle sold and off the lot. It was pretty much considered that you would be buying new tires in a 12-16 months. And that was pretty much the reality. I once replaced a set of new OEM tires in less than 3-4 months because they were so bad.

But I'd say the last 2-3 new vehicles I've purchased the OEM tires have been pretty good. Normal durability and wear, averaging 3-4 years, which is a far cry from the earlier days.

It might be for safety reasons. Some high profile failure cases in the 90's, but also I think OEM manufacturers were doing themselves a disservice. Whatever brand your OEM tires were, if they prematurely wore, and didn't perform well, you would never consider replacing with the same brand.
I've never heard a tire manufacturer admit that standards changed or were raised. But it sure seems like over the decades they did.

The work place water cooler talk in the 90's was that tire manufacturers made special "lower quality" runs of tires specifically for new cars.
Don't really know if that is true, or just rumor. But I never expected more than 2 years at best out of a set of OEM tires. Now, I expect them to wear and be durable about as long as any good quality tire you can buy.
