To go +1 size or not. That's my question.

Hi everyone. I'm in a odd place for me on wheel choice. I normally always choose to go one in bigger when buying new wheels. But ere is my issue. I'm looking at Rota Grids. I had a set back in 04 with my EJ1 Civic EX w/ ABS Coupe. Now Rota has a deep dish Grid but only in 15"/16". I'm hoping they wont fit. If they do i will most likely stay 16".

16x8 4x100 +20 offset.

Id like to do a 1in drop max because any more than than will make my transfers into/out my chair more difficult putting added stress on my tri-cepts/sholders.

So my question to you guys is, will these rub with a 1in drop? If the majority thinks no, would you guys show me your 2nd gen fits with high offset wheels at stock height and/or with a drop (let me know the springs/drop).

Thank u in advance,
Des

16x8 +20 will absolutely rub, check these 2 threads for a solution:

lol

They do make them in a 16x7 +40 that you can run instead:

16x7 Rota Grid 4x100 40 Flat Black Wheel Fits Miata Fit XB Yaris Jetta | eBay

16x8 +20 is really aggressive on our cars

those cars on those threads were slammed. I cant lower my car but only an in. hence why I like the teins sport springs. I miss those rims with a nice lip like 90's/early 00's bmw m cars.

Like i said, Ive had these rims 16x7 40. i like the deeper lip though the +20 does.

My car 11yrs ago. Had them when the 1st came out.

If i dont drop it would i be ok?

It will look really weird unless you're dropped and have your camber set properly if you stick with the 16x8 +20

Will an inch be good enough.

No. 16x8 +20 will look terrible on a mildly lowered GE.

Just find something else

Desmond Lamar MacRae Jun 7, 2015 03:50 AM

Thank you guys. My plan is to do Rota Torque "bronze". I saw a White FIT with the real brand but 18in. I cant go that large. I only go +1 bigger.

mike410b Jun 7, 2015 10:10 AM

^Heads up...Rota bronze is really cheap/ugly.

Desmond Lamar MacRae Jun 7, 2015 05:09 PM

rota torque has 17x7 +30e-45 offset. whats the lowest offset i can do? i also plane on 10mm r/5mm f spacers ive seen on a car with the real version of the tq w/o rubbing.

Desmond Lamar MacRae Jun 7, 2015 05:22 PM

BTW i'm looking at sports bronze. A lot darker than regular rota bronze. But im not ordering until next spring so ill be looking at many photos until then.

Here it is from Rota's site.

Here's the pic that switched me to torque... He has the real wheels. My pockets arent Volk, etc deep to spend these prices anymore ;-).

I'm by no means wanting to copy this car. Beyond the wheels, I'm taking a totally different route.

word of warning if u plan to use 10 mm or smaller spacer, u should get extended bolts. the bolts won't have enough thread to put ur wheel on effectively.

Will do. My friends are acura tech. The dont allow me to waste money on things that wont work just like you guys are doing. Thats why i dont install anything myself after an intake.
