Couldn't you figure a way to bend the two metal hangar arms in such a way as to make the tips angle just a tiny bit down and to the left?

 

you’d be torquing the whole muffler and it’s bolted to the b-pipe with two bolts that probably would prevent it. I don’t think there’s an easy way of doing what you’re asking, and the aesthetics of the results are probably polarizing...
