Spoon Sports B or Mid Pipe

Spoon Sports B Pipe

'Tail Silencer [N1 Type] the ideal exhaust efficiency and torque, the power-up can be achieved by combining, you can achieve the maximum performance. Main pipe diameter 45Φ combination with genuine tail silencer Since you are using a flange of genuine same criteria is also possible.'

45Φ = 1.77 inch

That seems darn narrow. What is the Stock diameter? Unsure how you can gain any HP with an aftermarket pipe this narrow unless the resonator and/or connections are truly awful or the tube isn't mandrel bend.

A bigger pipe is not necessarily better.

If you put a 70mm exhaust on a Fit...it'd lose power, at all RPM's, especially down low. The exhaust gases would not be moving quickly enough.

45 is the stock sizing as well. Though I can't speak for the GK, I imagine it wouldn't be smaller than that.

Since Spoon Sports B Pipe has the same size piping (45) as stock. What is the advantage to be gained by spending hundreds of dollars on this part?

Weight savings and increased fluid dynamics.

Ok.

About how much weight savings (in lbs)?

How much HP gained by the Fluid Dynamics?

The biggest advantage of aftermarket exhaust system is the weight savings, not hp gain. How much less? Only an email to Spoon could answer that.

I'm sure the hp gain is low; even w/ a high flow resonator and mandrel bent tubes. I'm confident that Spoon did their R&D, what ever the gains are.

Well, I hope Spoon is better at answering emails than HKS and Tanabe.

Between my front pipe, mid pipe and muffler, I saved 20.4 lbs from stock. Though all are Ti in construction, so I wouldn't expect but maybe about 14lbs overall going with SS, depending on the material thickness of course.

VtecKicked in owned you lol, Hey heres an idea for a good first mod Honda Fit Club Get a way to make it run on 91+ octane tune? HAS this been done already?
I understand DI makes it difficult.

45mm is about where the stock GK is at as well. J's Racing's B pipe is 50mm. My homemade B pipe is 63.5mm (2.5") just because I am nuts and I have issues. My focus is more on topend though.

I'm sure the KTuner can help tune your vehicle for 91 octane. As for direct injection (DI), my car runs better on 92 octane. The ignition advance stays pegged this way when I go full throttle, rather than being retarded (no pun intended).

Was reading through some old threads and saw you asked this question but no-one answered.

Spoon states that their B-Pipe weighs 9kg (19.84lbs) on this site --> Spoon B Pipe

HondaPartsNetwork lists the stock B pipe at 14.96lbs (6.79kg) on this site -->
2015 GK5 B-Pipe

Spoon B-Pipe is heavier than stock. No advantage there!

Thanks for the info.

So minimal (less than 1 WHP) gain and it Weighs More than stock.

Personally (more WHP bias), I would find buying this part hard to justify but would welcome other points of view that could justify buying this part.

Any internal combustion engine runs better on a higher octane fuel. Why would someone think a Honda Fit would need a tune to run well on 91+? There is a noticeable difference in any engine between low end and high end fuel.

Add 3 to 4 gal.87oct. and the rest 91oct. With my stock GK5 Sport Manual its like a new animal.

Engines only "runs better on a higher octane" IF it is mapped/tuned for it. Using 91/93 without a map has little to no benefits on a daily drive.

To take full advantage of the 91/93 Octane you would need a proper tune (Ignition Timing, Duty Cycle, etc...). Based on experience it would be a ~4% max hp gain going from 89 to 93 (*with a tune). But you would need more than just a SAFC tuner.
