2015 Fit Gk5 with 10th gen Civic L15b7 swap

Hey guys

Wanted to start a new group for the swap we are doing in our Gk5. We hydrolocked the motor in the Fit and decided we needed to be the first to do this along with Hasport. Since this motor is going to be very available at junk yards to do the swap it will be much better than the K24z7 and smog legal witht he years of the motors coming out " depending on your State and smog laws"

We sourced the L15B7 from a 2017 EXT with 20,000 miles on it and came with longblock, turbo, 6 speed trans and ECU

I will be updating off and on and the swap should be done within the next month or so.

We will not be stock on this motor and will have some nice bolt ons with E40 making around 280whp and over 300tq

This is very exciting news. Subscribing to the thread :)

Curious how you hydrolocked the engine?

axion_industries 01-31-2018 12:29 PM

HPS Cold air and some crazy rain in Arizona, also had no fender liners in so it was a fully exposed intake

TougeMonster_GK5 01-31-2018 04:18 PM

Bless us Axion! Hope a swap kit becomes available by Summer time. Looking to drop some serious $$$ on a swap barring compliance to California BAR.

I had that happen with my old celica with a iceman intake. Torrential rains and Mom called that she needed to go to the hospital. Came upon a heavily flooded road and normally probably wouldn't have attempted, but my Mom needed me. It hydrolocked, but a shop was able to get it up an running. I actually drove that car for another 2-3 years before trading it in.

Clutch arrived from Clutch Masters Fx400 6 puck sprung, gonna need this for all the tq of the L15B7 on E40

fit13mwm 02-15-2018 01:25 PM

this is very exciting. I have owned my GK5 for 3 years and have been waiting for the market to open up for more options of mods. This is one i am very interested in. I watched the review on L15B7, its a bit different from our L15B. I hope its an easy mount and will the L15B 6M trans bolt up to it.

axion_industries 02-15-2018 01:27 PM

You need the engine and trans from the Civic to make it work, nothing from the engine on the Fit will work

fit13mwm 02-15-2018 02:17 PM

got it, so 100% swap. still the best way to boost the GK5 I imagine and still cheaper than a K20a2 swap I've been pondering.

hasdrubal 02-16-2018 12:02 PM

Surprised the transmission housing isn't the same, but it's probably better this way. There aren't exactly a lot of limited slip options for the Fit, and I wouldn't want that much power in a FWD car without one.

SMH327 03-02-2018 01:17 AM

Said it'd be about a month, is this swap near completion?

fit13mwm 03-07-2018 04:42 PM

I do still wonder which is more cost effective, this swap for a K20A2 swap? K20A2 makes more power right off the bat.

Motor is out and starting to test fit the engine and start making the first set of test mounts, stay tuned

fit13mwm 03-14-2018 12:46 PM

What's the weight difference between the two, I assume the additional equipment for the turbo set up adds a little bit.

axion_industries 03-14-2018 12:49 PM

New motor I'm sure will add some weight, the trans is actually much larger than the Fit trans

will you guys confirm the weight difference for your potential customer(s) reference?

hasdrubal 03-15-2018 12:59 AM

I know you said the transmission from the Fit isn't a direct swap, but what would be the issues with using an adapter plate? This isn't an issue for you guys since you already have the transmission, but for others considering the swap it might or might not save money, depending on the details.

Things like the clutch/flywheel size, if they're substantially different then maybe you need the turbo transmission just to get a strong enough clutch to hold the power. Can't think of another example at the moment, but maybe you can fill in the blanks in my question?

axion_industries 03-15-2018 02:22 AM

Nobody will be offering anything like this and I doubt the fit trans would even hold half the tq the L15b7 can offer. It will be a full swap that we will be offering to customers as that will be the easiest and best cost effective swap

I am excited that you will be offering this swap option :thumbups:. I assume when you state full swap you mean, engine, trans, ECU, harness etc.... Do you anticipate being able to keep luxuries such as AC and power steering?

axion_industries 03-22-2018 01:27 PM

We will be offering the swap, it will be a full turn key with some possible stuff needing fabbed like the intercooler and downpipe

axion_industries 03-22-2018 03:48 PM

Gotta get this done and have it running with no issues, however we are doing much more to the engine than we have told you guys, cant wait to update you soon

Sublime01 03-24-2018 05:33 AM

Finally

im excited :D i have 190k miles on my gk,, she just turned three a few weeks ago and hope to do an engine swap soon. i was thinking a k20c from a honda accord but the L15b7 has potential. about how much more you think a k20c swap would be compared to a L15b7? accords are selling like hotcakes  ahah.:ohnoes: im estimating its like 5-8k for L15b7 swap and like 10-15k for a k20c swap

Wow, that's a lot of miles already. Totally unrelated to this topic but has your fuel economy dropped at all since you first got the car?

actually none at all! i still manage to get 45mpg on hwy if im straight cruising at 60-65 the whole way. even if im mobbin 80-90 i still manage to get 33-36 mpg on the hwy. everything is bonestock i havent had to do any major work on the car. only oil changes, transmission flushes, coolant flushes, tires, brake pads, rotors. i havent even changed the drums in the back.. LMAO. im due for a new timing belt. i work as a courier so miles go up about a thousand a week. (yes a thousand, sometimes more :wiggle: ) ive been through so much with this car i cant see myself letting it go! i still owe 9gs on it.. hahah almost done paying it off but with that many miles its only work 5gs max. so at this point its best to keep it tilll she dies :thumbups: by the feel of the car i say she has about another 200k before anything major has to be done

Got our fresh Type R turbo for the L15b7 from Honda, going to make even better numbers

Car will be on display at the So Cal Eibach meet in Cali May 6th

perkidddoh 03-29-2018 03:16 PM

I guess I will be there come May 6th. I might as well ask: are there any chances for a GE swap?

axion_industries 03-29-2018 03:19 PM

We are working on a 2nd gen swap also with the L15b7 , it will be there also and a Crz

perkidddoh 03-29-2018 03:21 PM

Jesus! I mean AXION! This is amazing stuff you guys have going, any threads you guys have in progress for the GE?

Will you be offering an appropriately-sized intercooler and properly fitted intercooler piping as an option with the swap kit?

axion_industries 03-29-2018 06:44 PM

I will be doing a kit to go with the swap that people can buy hopefully to make it even more turn key

fit13mwm 03-30-2018 07:18 PM

this news makes for a very happy Friday afternoon....

I am sure you are unable to say but, do you have any ball park idea on how much the GK5 kit will cost and if the use will need to make any modifications to swap it in or will the kit be a bolt in kit with mounts? time to collect some cans for recycling.

axion_industries 04-03-2018 01:24 AM

I should be updating some pics early next week, mounts have been fabbed up and the motor should be in the car Friday

Type R turbo is here, sure does look good

And she is in, just fabbing up the mounts to see where we like it but fits perfect.

We will probably be starting it with the stock turbo so we understand what is needed for the swap which most people will be doing and then we will swap in the Type R turbo. I will get some pics of the final mounts and then its onto electrical and ecu now
