Changing Seat Covers
Changing Seat Covers
My Fit has old sheepskin seat covers in the front and Honda's thick one in the rear. My son's Fit has the Honda's all around. Since we have seat heaters, I'm switching both cars over to thinner covers that will let the heat through faster. Do any of you do that as winter approaches?

I personally have no need for seat heaters
Purchase regular thin seat covers. Any seat cover with thickness to it will slow down the heat transmission. A thin foam backing won't be bad. Look for for covers that have so sort of lining on the inside. Without it dirt, hair and liquid still works their way through.
My Fit model didn't have the option of seat heaters and living in the Mid South they aren't really needed. I have used sheepskin seat covers for 20 plus years because they breath in the summer, no sweaty back or butt. They are warm in the winter, they insulate you from the cold foam of the seats. The nicest thing about them is that dirt, dust, grime and liquid do not penetrate. I have taken a set off and washed them in washing machine on a gentle cycle. I did use gentle soap like you would use for wool. and let them air dry. After they had completely dried I ran them in the drier with several drier sheets and no heat just to soften them up a little and make them anti-static. Good till the next spill.
Good luck on finding a quality seat cover that allows the heat to come through.
