Toughts on Sound proofing?
Some have done it. Here's a couple I had bookmarked:

As for time and effort, that's totally subjective.

I originally did it so that I could experience my sound system better. I don't have to constantly change the volume and I can hear the music more clearly. The side benefit was that the car was much quieter.
There was a thicker glass front windshield that was introduced in the refresh to help quiet things down. When my '16's front windshield needed replacing, I thought about getting the new one but it was way, way to expensive.
If you are wanting to cut noise, then I would say do it. If cost is not a deal breaker, then use the Dynamat tiles instead of my Noico ones. You do get what you pay for. I have a link in my sig that lists the progression of my sound deadening.
I do want to do the firewall one day, and to do the wheel wells, but right now I'm pretty happy with the results. Highway driving is much better. Quieter than a '15 CRV. Not as quiet as a '08 B200, a '19 Macan or '17 128i. I can have a normal conversation at highway speeds. You will get a bit of wind noise but it's not too bad. Road noise is handled by tires.
When I got my Yakima aerodynamic roof rack, I couldn't hear it. Now after sound deadening, I can hear it slightly.
If you have any questions, just ask.
