Thank you so much spieler and snooznd. I did not know the back seats reclined. It looks perfect now... My last car was a 2001 Honda Civic, so the new Fit has so many new features I could never imagined...

I am reading the manual now to make sure I use all its features...

Thank you so much again!

I put mine on today. The price was ridiculous, but I didn't know about Bernardi or other options when I bought the car. I know now.

(Sigh)

Since he quoted me the lower price he was able to offer it to me for $250 because that was what the dealership payed but I still declined.

I found the same cover online for $186 here:
84400-T5R-C01ZA - Honda Cargo Cover (Fit) - Bernardi Parts

Anybody have experience with that website? I need a cover ASAP so I may order it next week and I can report back on whether it is worth it or not.
Absolutely ridiculous price for a piece of cardboard covered with fuzz. It came standard - flip-up/folding - in my '97 Civic.

Look here - $167.

Price match

There were several items I want, so I got the Bernardi price, called my local dealer and he price matched them. The local dealer charges 8% sales tax but that is less than the shipping from Bernardi, so I saved a few dollars, and supported the local dealer.

Good idea. 8% here, too. I asked where Berardi was located because I was trying to decide if I needed 3-day shipping. They're in MA, so ground will be fine.

Honda parts network OEM Honda Part 84400-T5R-C01ZA | Rear *NH900L* Shelf Assembly
Shipping is about $15 there are a couple clips you need to order with and they are about $2.50 each. Make sure you order at same time to save the shipping.

If "Required" means required, then you need over $100 worth of parts to go with the shelf. Or is everything inside the #1 box included?

I get it. Everything but #8 is included, and they're just $2.34.

Yeah I don't know why they don't include them. I didn't realize it but you don't have to have them. They just clip the cords that raise the cover when you open the hatch. Not having thm doesn't matter to me, I can just raise it by hand if I need to.

When I recline the back seats to close the gap between the seat back and the cargo cover the bottom of the back seat goes up also and creates an uncomfortable seating position. Is there a way to recline the back of the rear seats without making the bottom of the rear seats (the place one actually sits on) change position?

It has always been shocking that Honda has not made a cargo cover standard on any generation Fit. This is pretty basic stuff; as someone said, "just cardboard with fur on it." Aside from the extra money made at dealers by selling it separately, there isn't any other reason it shouldn't be standard. Oh wait, I think that just answered itself there.

Anyway, it does seem extremely chintzy of Honda and was the first thing I noticed after driving the Fit off the lot. "Oh wait, there's no cargo cover on these Fits!"

Every hatch I've owned, including some of the cheap and nasty ones including a Ford Aspire, Daihatsu Charade, and Chevy Aveo all had a cargo cover, and these are cars going back 20+ years ago. I can't think of a new hatch that doesn't have one now. Even the poorly rated and cheap-as-chips Mitsubishi Mirage has one standard. Funny enough, a criticism in one of the reviews of the Mirage pointed out that the cargo cover is hung on by one lonely string instead of two as a penny saving gimmick. At least, unlike the Fit, it has one

It's been bothering me now for the past two months that the Fit doesn't have one. There's not any valuables in the back of mine, but at least it also blocks some noise from the rear wheelwells. However, paying $200+ for it seems like highway robbery

Interesting that honda doesn't show this cover as an accessory, but good to know it exist.....I was wondering about it since there is obviously a spot for it. I'm not gonna pay $$$ for it though.

Thanks! It cost about $18 in materials. Jigsaw, palm sander, and hot glue.

Nice job! My DIY econo-cover has a few abrasions on it, and I'll consider recovering in felt when it starts look more beat up. Thanks for the inspiration.

I asked for the cargo cover when I bought the car, but the one they installed was not the sliding/roll out one but the retangle cover. Does anyone know what happened to that sliding/roll out one as I see most of the older Fits have it but the Honda dealer said doesnt show on their parts ..............

The roller used to be standard equipment. Now you have to pay over $100 for the rigid kind.
