The $7.99 DIY Arm Rest
The $7.99 DIY Arm Rest
After viewing many threads trying to figure out a better way to utilize and use my arm rest, I have come up with a way that is inexpensive, adjustable and retains the OEM look.
I bought a set of spring tension curtain rods from Bed Bath and Beyond for $7.99 and find that it works great. This allows you to be able to adjust the length which will allow you to adjust the height of the arm rest. When not using it or when you don't want to keep your armrest open, take the rod out and put it in the passenger seat back storage.
This may not work if you have your center console full. I however, do not really use my center storage other than for pens/charger/receipts etc.
These rods are thick enough where they will not bend with "normal arm resting". I am not sure on how they will hold up long term, but for the past few hours of driving, it seems to work just fine!
Not too much to explain here, pretty straightforward, onto the pictures. Not the greatest cell phone pictures, but you get the idea.

Thanks! I just see this as not so...unappealing to the eye? It's been working just fine the past few days! I was worried about the springs in the rod, if they would break over a little pressure, but they have been good so far, it even allows for a little "bouncy" armrest.
