"Radar Not Working"
I never thought I'd own a car that had a warning message telling me the radar wasn't working. Driving home in the snow last night, that's what lit up on my son's 2019 Fit. I'm hoping it was just a case of snow blocking the unit on the windshield. He said some other "problem" lights lit up, too. We've had the car just two months, so I hope the problems haven't started already. Our two 2015 Fits had their share of unrepairable problems.

Happened the other day to my brother’s new Kia Sorrento. Why do you think all the testing for autonomous cars takes place in Southern California or Arizona? Sensors and snow don’t mix, even though the proponents of this technology don’t like to mention or admit it.

Maybe they could develop some kind of electric device to keep the windshield clear of snow and rain. You know, a thing to wipe the windshield.

But on an honest note.... I think the car has to tell you when it can no longer see. There is no way they can risk a lawsuit where us drivers said we were counting on some system to work and it did not.

I once bought a used car that originated in FL, and it didn't have a heater. Yes, life was tough in the old days.

The radar is not mounted in the windshield, that is the camera, the radar is it some where near the Honda Emblem in the grill. Mine was doing it last week while on a 4 hour snow/freezing rain/sleet adventure, windshield was clear, grill packed with frozen slush. Ran in to the quickie-mart to take a leak, came out cleaned the wheel wells out and knocked the frozen slush off the grill and had no issues after that.

Call your representatives and let's see if we can ban this stuff once and for all. The only problem will be finding a safe substitute.

Very good post! Thanks!

yes, that's exactly what the problem is. if anything builds up on the grill and front emblem, it can cause the radar to fail to be able to see. I have also had the camera have trouble seeing during heavy rains, and with a heavily fogged windshield. It is a huge safety (read: liability) factor, to make sure to tell you when one of the driver assist functions cannot operate properly

So much for self driving autonomous cars. The sensors on the Fit are few in number and high in simplicity compared to the all around set of sensors that the so called self drivingcar needs. Any one of them covered in dirt or snow could result in you being ordered by your car to take over the driving.

There's an impressive array of yellow lights that come up if the front radar sensor in the grill emblem is iced over, as happened to us in WV. Collision mitigation and adaptive cruise are disabled, but fixed-speed cruise remains operative. A quick brush off in a rest area fixed it, but it was soon iced over again.
I don't make a habit of traversing Interstates when it's icy (on this trip, we saw six vehicles spun out into ditches on both sides of the road), so I can do without those features under that circumstance.
I could not find any reference to this in the owner's manual.
