Radar obstructed

Radar obstructed


Do you guys get this? I realized it goes off whenever I drive in the freeway when it’s rainy and windy... does anyone know what it means or what should i do? I have a Honda Fit ex 2018

Yeah. It means you should drive the car and not rely on dubious technology to do it for you.

The radar system is extremely low power (located behind the "H" emblem on the front grill), limited so as to not sterilize the people in the vehicle ahead of you. As such, being low power, the signal is easily blocked by rain, snow, fog, or dirt (either covering your grill or being thrown up from the wheels of the car ahead of you). Other than making sure that your grille is kept clean there's really not much that you can do. The problem is normal. There are a number of discussions on CRV boards about this if you want to do a Google search on "car radar obstructed". Some of the CRV problems have been due to bad software.

Problems like this are one of many reasons why self driving cars aren't currently viable and probably won't be for a decade or more to come in spite of what Elon Musk says. There is a good reason why self driving cars are tested in dry climates like Arizona and California.
